So I have a gmail account that I use for most of my emailing needs. It worked great for the longest time. No spam, always accessible, pretty intuitive interface with nice features; the whole shabang.

But recently (that is, in the last week) more and more spam has been getting through. This happening to anyone else, or am I just unlucky?

I use yahoo mail and I always get a huge amount of spam from a site called fanbox. I don't even know what fanbox is.

I gave up on Gmail some time ago. I check it every now and again, I'll have 400 penis enlargement messages waiting for me.

I don't really use or give out my Gmail address (just forward stuff from my old school account there, mostly), but I've never gotten spam in the inbox. There are a couple sitting in the spam folder, where they're supposed to be, and two in 30 days is not very much.

It's weird how the amount of spam I get varies. My Hotmail account gets a couple a day, but my one school address has been posted in plain text on public websites for a couple years and has never gotten a single spam message, somehow...

Yeah, my Gmail account is clean. Nothing unsolicited at all - which is more than I can say for my Uni account. Which is bizarre, considering I've never given out the Uni address but I use Gmail for everything. Guess my luck just runs that way...

Well I use 3 email accounts, 1 for work, 1 for serious accounts (sites that wouldn't sell you're email, mmorpg accounts, etc.) and 1 for you're average account. And so far so good all of my spam goes to my last email

This, as long as you stay away from sign me up for X newsletter when you register for a site then you shouldn't get any. Or just do what I do and have a separate email account for signing up for things.

Have two addresses. One is personal. Never give it out to anyone but friends, family, etc. The second is used for signing up for things. Presto. Never one spam in the personal box. MAGIC!

Wow, really? You have been seeing more spam slip through the filter too? I thought it was just me. (I have been using a client, rather than a browser to check my email recently, so rather than marking the occasional spam mail when it got through, I simply labeled it "read". I assumed that was why my filter had grown weak.)

That's what I do too. But like I said in the last week I've had like 12 emails go to my inbox rather than be automarked as spam and deleted.

Have yours all had very similar titles? Something like "Hello. Want to meet?" or something equally as obvious?

I get about 1 spam email every 2 months, and even then it's filtered into the spam box. Personally I've had no problem with my gmail account.

I've had no problems with my account. If your spam is all coming from the same address, then create a filter to stop it.

Have you crossed the path of any douche bags who may have decided pass your Email on to spammers?

No, but I bought something off a "secure" web site. Maybe, not quite so secure about the non-super important information. Although, if that is where the information came from, I'm a little relieved that the worst that's happening is some spam, and not some nice fraudulent purchases. *knocks on wood*
