Probably just change the control scheme and get over it. You can use the C buttons just like a left thumbstick. It's not perfect, but it's not that bad and it hasn't aged terribly.

No, modern controls have ruined modern games, not classic ones. Goldeneye has aged very well, I can still pick up my N64 controller and rock but as soon as I pick up a PS3 controller, I suck. The N64 layout was a bit questionable for certain games, but Goldeneye was not one of them. All you need to do is make sure that auto aim is turned on, your gun turns to the enemy.

every time I go to play it, I fall in love with it over again. The controls aren't really a problem.

it's still more entertaining than any FPS on modern systems.

On Oddjob, the center mass happens to be his head since the game doesn't really seem to differentiate based on height, so it's always been easier to kill him.

The control scheme is fine to me. The N64 had a beautiful controller.
Guys, if we all had Perfect Dark on XBLA I'd be friend requesting you all so fast right now...

Interestingly enough, I didn't like the game when I was younger. It wasn't because I sucked at it either; I finished the story mode. I didn't finish all the levels on the highest difficulty, though.

I did go back to it a month ago, along with several other N64 games, and now I think it's awesome. The control schemes work really well. I even finished the game twice on the hardest difficulty using both control schemes. So I guess the game has aged well. I wasn't under effects of nostalgia and still enjoyed the game.

The game does have flaws. The biggest being enemies going through death animations (some of them very long) were one-way shields that protected enemies from your bullets, but did not protect you from theirs. I'm not sure if it was design choice or not. It was still playable and it didn't make the game TOO difficult, but it' kinda stupid. The game also had bad framerate problems.

Quick note: Does anyone remember the control scheme that used two controllers? It allowed players to have two control sticks, much like today's shooters. It was extremely awkward though.

N64 Games That Aged Well That Aren't Conker's Bad Fur Day: Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Lylat Wars, Paper Mario, Ogre Battle 64, Sin And Punishment...

One N64 Game That Hasn't Aged Well: Goldeneye 007.

I think it's aged reasonably well. Not as much as Perfect Dark though, which I think surpassed it in every way, bar a few classic multiplayer levels in Goldeneye. Still had complex and temple though, which was the important thing!

nope none of them aged well, all of them are outdated by today's standards and Conker was released at the last days of the N64 and it was a whole new game and modern design and not a sequel to a another N64 game (MM).

I wish I had it :( I've never got into the downloadable title thing (I feel like an old man whenever I talk about games) and never hooked my 360 (now broken as of long ago, fucking Microsoft) up to live, there's a heap of games I would get if it was, Perfect Dark would be the first purchase I'd make (followed by Monkey Island Remake, Joust, Mortal Kombat games, Castlevania just to name a few).

Luckily we can keep the spirit alive by playing it with friends.

Protip: When you're unarmed in multiplayer opponents auto-aim goes off, use it for several advantages.

Sure, most of them aren't on par with most games nowadays from a technological standpoint. But you think these games are no longer playable? ...Seriously?
