Hate for Canada

Why do people always make fun of Canada? It actually looks like a fine place to live, statistically speaking.

I think it is because of the french part(s) of Canada. Over the past year though, two things have had me gain more respect for the french...

Because they have almost NOTHING that makes them somewhat relevant to anyone?
They aren't a world power, they don't export anything in large amounts I.E. China/Mexico
They have no great inventions or discoveries.

In short, they are the weird chubby kid on the play ground that is the world, they are noticeable enough to get picked on, but not enough to be of any actual interest to anyone.... Plus they are Canadian, and be honest here, who DOESN'T like making fun of them?

Don't export mass amounts of anything... except we are the USA's number one supplier of oil, a massive exporter of timber, and fresh water.

As for not inventing anything... we invented the Java programming language, basketball, freaking Elijah McCoy was born in Canada, even Alexander Graham Bell was Canadian (although an immigrant).

Good try though, but still a slightly fail post.

I've made my fair share of Canada jokes, but I have to admit, I love that place. I've only been there twice and it seems awesome (I also hear they have good weed)! Besides, hating countries in North America seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.

OT: The only people I've really seen making fun of Canada are Canadians themselves. I wasn't aware the rest of the world really cared.

I DO make fun of its Southern brother, (ironically) North America. But then everyone does that.

Every country is mocked in some way or another, in the end - its just what people do for a laugh.

dude, Canada is IN North America. The proper way to refer to the country of dullards that currently inhabits the space between Mexico and Canada is the US, USA, United States of America, United States, or America

Canadian history isn't taught anywhere in the U.S. that I know of, but most of the hate is really just joking... I hope. I certainly mean it that way.

Canada's main export is jokes which we are the butt of. Most of the funnier jokes about Canada come from Canadian comedians. Our comedy is known as being the best in the world. We're taking over the world one laugh at a time.

Actually I love Canada, particularly Nova Scotia. Beautiful place.

ahhh yes Nova Scotia how I love thee. I was born there, I hopefully plan on visiting family and friends this summer.

I don't really take all the Canada jokes seriously. A lot of the time it's just poking fun or their horribly misinformed.
