Hating on JRPGs

I like JRPGs

JRPGS for the win, aye?

The hell is wrong with JRPGs? They're RPGs that have a specific style to them that, for some reason, reminds people of Japan, I guess. There are other games that have long-winded explanations of settings, monologues after getting stabbed, and monologues at any point in time.

EDIT: And dammit, MOST GAMES have that "preachy, insipid bullshit."

What's wrong with them? They're boring barely interactive shitty anime, that's what. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

And there are JRPGs out there that aren't. And it doesn't float my boat, I don't really play them. It just pisses me off when people target an entire genre at once. There are good JRPGs out there the same way there are good shooters. There are good mysteries out there the same way there are good RTS games. You can't target an entire genre, it doesn't WORK that way.

Suspension of disbelief comes in all forms, no your not going to stand there and take turns attacking like your Napoleon, but if it were a real fight you wouldn't last long anyway

Even though I got bored with Eternal Sonata, over-all I love JRPGs. But I love all RPGs. Sure, some I think are stupid, or aweful, or have issues with like being too short, or too long, or too silly, or too serious, or whatever, but I would never hold my negative opinions of some against the whole. That would be like saying I hate video games because First Person Shooters are lame. Or I hate all guys named Doug cause I went to school with one that smelled weird. And you never know, there could be a thousand Dougs out there I would get along with perfectly, but would have missed out on with hateful ways.

...until I actually played one.

Luckily, it was Earthbound!

So now I'm actually quite willing to try some more JRPGs.

Lost odyssey, woop woop!
^^underrated so much, i bought it for like £10, and it's really long game that's over 4 disks.
I love JRPG's, especially the tales series. Alot of people dont like them because of grinding, but a lot of JRPG's dont have it. That's like saying all FPS's are third person...well not really, but you get the point.

yea.......... true JRPGs have a bad rep, but only because people like you only focus on ones made for money or as a revive of a series.
good JRPGs are not in short supply
