I hope they come back, they're functional and cool. Or at least they can be cool. But that's another use for hats; humor! Intentional or otherwise. I know a guy that wears a stupid Tigger hat and it makes me happy every time I see him in it.

Hats never went anywhere. I don't where them because I think my hair is my best feature. But a lot of people do wear them.

Ahhh fuck.
Hahahaha, yeah, Antidamacus beat me to it as well.

Hats didn't go away, they evolved like fashion does. We're not all fedora people like the 1920's, but we still have a variety of different hats people wear all the time. Although the trend for women to wear hats has diminished, mostly because women rebelled against expected behavior in the 60's. It's traditional thinking linked back to religious and political reasons that said women had to cover their heads outdoors, and women don't exactly feel the same now as they did then.

Only faggots take off their hats indoors.
I think you'll find that this is untrue, since most religious groups believe that you are to take off your regular hats (and some replace them with official religious headwear). Since religion is fairly anti-homosexual, it's highly unlikely that only "faggots" as you put it take their hats indoors.

Only selfish, non-socially/situationally aware people don't take their hats off when indoors.

Compare the number of hats you see in each of the photos, as well as the styles of hats.

Trilbies, fedoras, and other, similar hats are coming back into fashion, but almost exclusively among people who have no sense of fashion whatsoever. People seem to think you can wear these kinds of hats like baseball caps - that a hat is just something you throw on your head rather than an integral part of your outfit. It isn't. A hat like this needs to fit together with the rest of your outfit, which, if you will notice from the photographs above, is almost always a suit. At the very least, if you're not wearing some sort of blazer or coat, or your hat does not match some other major part of your outfit, you just look like a tool.

Remember: a hat is part of your outfit.

OK then, decision made. It's trilby/fedora/loads of other hats time again!Just nobody wear baseball caps.EVER!Baseball caps are an insult to hatting,I think. Also,if there's anyone on this thread from cork, ireland, where can I find a good hat shop? It's fine if it's in dunmanyway, knocka, the city, ballincollig, anywhere.I NEED A FUCKING HAT.A trilby or a fedora, preferably. Also, ben croshaw (i refuse to call him by yahtzee when I'm in a serious discussion about hats,as he is,after all,a fellow hatter)can wear a trilby with anything, even jeans and a short-sleeved shirt, and he can pull it off.Maybe it's the glasses (strangely similiar to my own glasses by a weird coincidence) or the beard, but he can wear his trusty trilby with anything. The one he wore in the game damage pilot was a truly great hat.And hats did go out of style where i came from. But I'm bringing hats back.HATS ARE ON THEIR WAY,PEOPLE,ON THEIR WAY!

A hat is a sign of manhood (just like sex, beards, watching porn, cancer and wearing outlandishly bad boxers with hearts on them).

You should wear a hat proudly at all times.
What does that say for my bowler?

Yes, I wear a bowler. It's a very precious hat (For all I wish I could get a nicer one. From Strand Hatters in Sydney.. for $300.) As said above, hat's never left. They've always been lurking.
My previous statement says absolutely nothing about your choice of attire (seeing as it was meant in a light hearted, comical sense), I'm certain that you posess a very womanly image regardless of your hat choice.

Back on topic though, does a beanie (or wooly hat) count as a hat or does it have to be a trilby/bowler/fedora?

Beanies are OK.Perhaps not as good as trilbies, bowlers,or fedoras, but at least they're not baseball caps.DON'T WEAR BASEBALL CAPS,EVER!

Agreed, the hat must fit with the rest of the outfit. That's why I only wear my hat in winter (when I have my overcoat on) and at formal events any other time. The dude in the second picture is hilarious though!
