Right through history man has studied, developed and worn with pride various hats.. this has lead to a great legacy of differing and awesome head wear..

It ranges from the famed bandanna, to the classy top hat, even going as far as the Worker's trusty cap (Whippet not included)..

Anyway, I ask you Escapists, what is your favorite piece of head wear.. Mine personally is the Ushanka http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ushanka
Fashionable, Militaristic and Useful.. perfect for kicking ass and being cool..

Anyway on with the show..

I have this black leather cowboy hat with a red feather in it
It's amazing
but there's basically no opportunity to wear it without looking like an arsehole

The trilby, a hat similar to the fedora but with a narrow brim that is sharply turned up in the back, has become a part of youth fashion in the 2000s due to its retro appeal, and is normally associated with indie rock/bohemian, hipster and ska scenes.

Lol'd reading that on Wikipedia. It seems a lot of gamers like wearing overcoats as well. I can't stand either, makes me cringe with cheesiness.

OT: I like beanies most, my hair is kinda long so if it gets windy I can just put it on and I won't have to bother with my hair.

Gotta be honest on this one, Yahtzee's trilby was my inspiration to go out and buy one. I wear mine a fair amount of the time. I'd love to get an old Stetson though with the felt lining and wear that all the time - where I live not many people wear them for whatever reason (Trilbys that is). I can recall at least twice professors have mentioned my hat during class (Random lol) and I've had a few people ask me where I bought mine. I like those ivy caps too, but can't make myself wear them - feel like I'll look like a fool and they don't seem like they go with everything like a trilby does.

Top hats are pretty cool - but there's no time you can wear one without looking out of place (Though I have contemplated dressing like I was from the 19th century and speaking/acting as such for an entire day just to see what kind of reaction people would have).

This is an image of me wearing my favourite hat!

That's right, beanies count as hats! They are wear that go on your head, thus they are headwear, which makes them a hat! Just try and argue with logic that solid!

Why do people these insist on wearing trilbies/ fedoras?

You are not a 1930's mobster, you are not Humphrey Bogart.

I have a soft spot for Stetsons hats/ Cowboy hats. Other than that, Baseball caps are pretty neat. Comfy, functional and in a wide range of styles :p

Also, the British Army has some fucking cool traditional headdress.

Baseball caps since that is the only hat I had ever wear and I like how it block out the sun light from my eyes.

What is the deal with trilbies? Unless you're actually dressing smartly it just looks a little...odd - in my opinion, anyway.

And for the love of God people, once you're inside, that hat comes off. That's just manners. Ok, rant over.

But yeah, I rarely wear hats - unless of course it's snowing, in which case my Jayne Cobb style hat makes an appearance :p
