True, but there are many good retro games available through the eShop (and Wii Shop Channel). The Wii U covers a lot of bases...Imperioratorex Caprae said:Except it doesn't play Gamecube games. Can't defend or attack the Kinect here as I got the Kinect-less One, but all of that 'Xbox record' stuff is still available. Just snap the Upload app to the game you're playing and, instead of saying 'Xbox record that' you hit the Xbox button on the controller and then press 'A' on the 'Xbox record that' menu option. Personally I can't see why anyone would be interested in seeing my gameplay footage, but there are plenty of people who share pictures of their dinner with the world so maybe I'm just too old to 'get it'. :/Xiorell said:Hmm... Second person this week who's said kinect often shits the bed and dies. Everyone else sort of skirts around the question.Evonisia said:You're supposed to say "Xbox Record that", "Xbox home", "Xbox go to Apps" (no, really), but in my experience the thing barely registers me talking. Seems to understand my Dad when he does Xbox stuff so maybe it's just me. Before it will listen to you, you need to do a test anyway which requires you to use the Kinect to "officially" close the tutorial. To be honest I try to avoid the thing because I still have a bit of a antagonistic relationship with cameras and the like.Xiorell said:Just curious on this one... Of those of you who DO have xb1+kinect, how much do you actually use all the "xbox record that" stuff? I think the idea of plugging my sat receiver into it, is probably more appealing than the reality.
By the way, I don't think you can turn the camera/Kinect off with voice commands.
Still, the Kinect isn't as creepy as the Wii U's "photo-Miis" which are officially the most horrifying thing I've ever seen.
I still got my normalcwii plugged inMrBaskerville said:If you never played wii, and if you like retrogaming, then WiiU is a pretty good deal. There´s a lot of really cool gba titles on the VC store, i barely play new games on it because i got a shit ton of cool VC games and Wii titles. The exclusives are pretty good too, if you like platformers and gameplaycentric games, not really the place to look if you prefer storydriven stuff. I´m very happy i bought a WiiU, fits my playstyle perfectly, and despite the lack of third party support i find it easy to find stuff to play thanks to the online store and acces to Wii library.
On disc games are pretty expensive though, that has to be said.
But atleast you can expect them to become cheap at some point, Nintendo games rarely drops in price. Atleast that´s my experience with Wii and Gamecube. Non Nintendo games are dirt cheap though, they are practically giving games like Arkham city and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 away for free. But that´s probably more relevant in 2-3 years than it is now (when cheap Ps4 and XboxOne games are taking all the shelf space).Xiorell said:I still got my normalcwii plugged inMrBaskerville said:If you never played wii, and if you like retrogaming, then WiiU is a pretty good deal. See at first glance Wii u games look expensive but, look at ps4/xb1 games. Same
Sorry I misread as turn off PS4. Idk about turning controllers off as I've rearly had the need so I will take your word on that one.Xiorell said:I'm not at my ps4 now but I got like - PS button>scroll to "adjust devices">scroll to dualshock 4>off
Not huge I know but I used to go. PS button>switch off ds3, done
I never trade in my games too but Nintendo are always expensive vs other systems, I can get PS3 games for $20, good luck finding a decent Wii game for that price.Xiorell said:True enough I guess.
I rarely trade in / sell games mind, so its only ever a one off cost whichever the console![]()
I'm genuinely done with gaming rigs. My last one cost thousands and it was amazingly good etc but, that romance is over.ngl42398 said:Neither. Put the money towards a gaming PC. Unless, if you REALLY enjoy Nintendo 1st party games, then you MIGHT want to consider a Wii U. I'd still put the money towards a gaming PC.
I hate that and don't understand why they made that change. So many decisions they made with the UI on the PS4 are a step backwards from how it was handled on the PS3. Sony has a bad habit of fixing what ain't broke, like the store on PS3... ugh.Xiorell said:I'm not at my ps4 now but I got like - PS button>scroll to "adjust devices">scroll to dualshock 4>off

I was really torn between ps4 and xb1 when I brought that... Friends back home (I moved away) had xb1 and I'd enjoyed my 360 but I've been on something of a sony rampage the last 2 yearsloa said:Why are you torn? That theoretical Halo 5 isn't even out yet. This is a choice between nothing and something.
The WiiU has lots of good games. See if you like them and if you do, there you go.
It doesn't make sense to buy a console now and just hold onto it until it has interesting games some day which surely people who bought the ps3 in hopes of playing the last guardian on it some day can tell you.
There will probably be an improved, cheaper version of the xbone later too.
I don't mind the facelift aspect... I preferred the PS3 look and feel but I think the new approach is perfectly functional, it just seems there's extra steps and presses, or menus for things that used to be a lot more to the point.Tank207 said:I hate that and don't understand why they made that change.
