Since everyone is so confused.

crit·ic [krit-ik]
a person who tends too readily to make captious, trivial, or harsh judgments; faultfinder.

He even said something along those lines in one of his videos.

True question is how often does he ever recommend a game?lol

As for the games he tends to bash.

Honestly, the only game review he managed to convince me that was shit was Dead Space, and for a while there my opinion of the game was "meh" because I thought we hit a common ground.

Then later I had a chance to play the game and though it was fucking awesome.

So the moral of this story was never...ever...ever ever ever...listen to Yahtzee...he might be entertaining, but he's a lousy person to go to if you want an opinion about a game....=/

Do it for the lols and nothing else!

Reviewing a new game every week I don't think he gets time to appreciate certain aspects of the game he's playing or learn those reflexes we all develop on the games we love for instance Mirrors Edge, now I love his review of that game, I think it's one of his funniest and he certainly nailed many of it's problems but that game is something you can get obsessed with if you give it time which he can't

His first review of Shadows of the Colossus is what motivated me to buying it. And he did not steer me wrong. Great game. THANKS YAHTZEE!

WOW a lot of Saints Row 2 eh?
I don't really listen to him but i saw SR2 laying there for like 2 years for maybe 10 bucks and i thought no-one bought it because it was a shitty GTA clone. But after Yahtzee's review i bought it because it was really cheap and i found that he was right about the game: It is awesome.
Thnx for the comments and for everybody who's about to leave a comment!

Saints Row 2 and Psychonauts, Psychonauts wasn't that great, but Saints Row 2 is so much more fun than any GTA was (except GTA2 xD)

I bought WET. I loved it. He was actually wrong in his review. He said 'there's no way of telling if a ledge is climbable.' Except for the fact that if you hold LT all the climable ledges light up bright RED!!

No but I will occasionally see a movie based on the advice of MovieBob.
Aye, I go with this too. Sometimes I don't really like his reviewing style, or his focus on Nerd canon or the like, but every film I've seen on his recommendation has been a winner, so I always check his reviews out.

Shit...I guess I was the only one here who had Saint's Row 2 on RESERVE. Hell, I got the collector's edition.

I knew that game would be awesome.

OT:

Not really, no.

He's big into "immersion", while I'm not really concerned about that.

No, I dont. I do watch everyone of his reviews but in some cases my opinion on a game is polar opposite of Yahtzee's. Games are subjective. You may like or even love a game that everybody in a 100 mile radius from you hates and vice versa.
