Yesterday I was doing laundry and the dryer left my close still very wet, I didn't have the money for another cycle so I decided to just take my clothes back to my dorm room. Not being content to just ware wet clothes the next day I started thinking about possible solutions. I couldn't just put them on the window still because it was night time and raining, but I realized my dresser had an unused rack I could hang my clothes off of. They of course wouldn't dry very fast just hanging there so I picked up my desk fan and put it up on the top shelf of my desk where it could blow dry across to the clothes.

Has any one else ever thought up a creative solution to a problem using a combination common house hold objects or otherwise non-conventional tools, also known as MacGyvering?

I opened my soda with a pen because my finger nails are short.

All the time. Unlocked my car door the other day using a piece of bent thread rod (that somebody else had bent, mind you) and a shaft collar.

I made a holster for my nerf gun and a sheath for my nerf sword out of the wire from a notebook and a lot of duct tape.

Many a object. I created an tripod for a disposible coffee filter using 3 tent pegs.

Its nothing compared to a mate of mine who created a mini crossbow that fired flaming needles! All he used was a box of matches, some string, needles (of course) and a bit of tape. First thing he did was test it out on a friend of ours lol

I do remember this one time I did something amazing but I have unfortunately forgotten it. I should really write these stuff down...

Well once I made this stand for something out of materials you would use for a completely different thing. Sorry about the vague. I will edit if I remember!

Sometimes I have to make product models for my studies. They usually involve lots of tape (when in doubt, use more tape) and cardboard and very often work like a charm.

Other than that, sadly no...

I bent a rubberband powered trebuchet from the 1mm copper rods on the back of a donald duck folder.

Proper mcguyver stuff explodes!

Too bad tinkering with fireworks doesn't count, unless you made them from household ingredients first.

Closest thing I can think of was using a pillow case and a bag of ice as a cooling solution for my laptop.

Well, I once rigged a motion sensor and a camera together with a potato gun like thing. The sensor got triped, the gun would fire a ballon fulol of syrup and feathers at the persons mid-section, and the camera would flash two seconds after firing. That was one hell of a April fools. Thank God I joined my highschool robotics team, so many good memories...

Umm, I've repaired the hinges on a door using an ice cream scoop. That's the closest thing I suppose...

I repaired an umbrella with a safety pin, carved a table foot out of styrofoam, and made temporary shoes by duct-taping cardboard to my socks. None of those are very epic, though.

For you.

OT: I haven't really "Macgyvered" anything, but my friend has made a few bongs out of things around the house...

I made a sort-of-functional microphone stand out of an old guitar stand. Just took the top bit off, turned it around and put it back in. Lashed the microphone to it with a couple of rubber bands. Sort of worked... as long as I was sitting on the floor. Not very high, these guitar stands.

Instead of buying a £30 rail for my BB gun, I attached the laser with elastic bands...
I'm good at this.

Would you like to explain how exactly? I don't see an immediate connection between those objects.
