Have you ever really liked a character everyone else hated?

I didn't mind Barry in Alan Wake.

Which is odd, as I normally detest sidekicks like Barry.

Maybe it was his joke about the "eye of Mordor" and his shenanigans with cardboard cut-out Alan Wake that won me over.

I have to agree. It's just how he was the kind of guy who would get in cool kinds of trouble, like getting kidnapped by nymphomaniac vampires and Alan would bail him out. It felt like he was really MY sidekick.

I liked the adoring fan in oblivion. I especially liked casting a fatigue spell and letting him get torn open like a ketchup packet by trolls.

But yes, Hope. Well, he was annoying, then he decided he wanted to stab Snow in the face. I could relate. Plus, he generally became a far better character after the first few chapters in my eyes, and he was the best mage in the game.

Lightning and Fang in all respects, were the best ones. Tough girls with the occasional compassionate side that killed everything.

On Hope? True, I liked him for that (God damned military had to blow up the rooftop before he could do it.. the bastards! And then.. and then they fucking survive!? AGH!), though he became more of a parrot around Gran Pulse and the L'cie training ground portion than anything else.

For me it was Moira Brown in Fallout 3 and the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. I don't know I always found Moiras quirkiness rather charming like a likable, less dangerous version of Sarah Palin.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that liked Moira Brown.

OP: For me it's Cait Sith from FF7. I personally liked how he stands out in the group. He's a robotic cat riding on a giant moogle. What's not to love? Also, (SPOILERS if you haven't played the game.) I like how he is really Reeve, one of the Shinra executives who are all made out to be evil. Kind of gives a little bit of perspective in a way. Although I will agree about his lack of usefulness in battle. His limit breaks are luck based, and his stats aren't all that impressive. Other than that, I liked the little guy. It's a shame not very many people do though.

I will go along with you on that. I actually had a lot of fun driving around in that thing, pretending I could see the terrified faces of my companions, screaming as I drove off a hundred foot cliff... Good times.

Anyway, I know a lot of people really hated Alistair from DA:O, but I adored him. I also really liked Kaiden Alenko from ME1. Guess I'm a sucker for inoffensive, slightly nerdy shy guys.

Yes! I also liked the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. I mean come one people, you have to admit they are the most badass teddy bears you've every seen.

Also while I don't really like Navi, I don't really hate her either and I sure preferred her to Tatl from Majora's Mask.

And this too! I loved the driving sections of the first Mass Effect. My only complaint about them is that the non-story related planets could have used some more variety in the terrain, but other then that, driving the Mako was awesome!

Erm... the cast of Final Fantasy XIII. Yeah, it's not the best game but I think it is way better than XII (which apart from Balthier, Fran, Ashe and Basch and a nice art style had absolutely nothing of interest).

And the crew from Lost Odyssey. Seriously, they are well written and the voice acting is reeeally good!

Kreia/Darth Traya from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: the Sith Lords. I admire her intelligence, her dignity, her attitude, her wisdom, and her strength. I think she's awesome while most can't stand her.
