Have you ever really liked a character everyone else hated?

I'll admit, despite the shitty controls I do enjoy the jokes it spawned on DA. It's not that it was an engineering disaster that couldn't control for shit, Shephard's just a really shitty driver. As for characters I liked that most hate...well, I never really cared about Navi, but I never found her intolerable either since she wasn't always going "hey! listen!"Insanum said:

Not only do I like her, I adore her. She's like my favorite female character in the Mass Effect series so far, she's a wise cracking hot chick with a huge assault rifle who is also a very human character with flaws and believable issues as well as having the capacity to move past her flaws for the better.
I guess what I'm saying is, I like my chicks hot and tough. And Ashley had both in equal measure.
I liked her, a LOT. The fact that I've defended her honor almost as many times as I've defended the Halo franchise speaks well and truly enough for that. I get really sick of people just labeling her as an 'annoying god nut racist' because that really is an unfair simplification and exaggeration of her character.

Well, given the many mentions of the Mako, I'll include that. I also either like or don't mind Anakin Skywalker, JarJar, Alistair, Nathan Drake, Altair, and Master Cheif.
Sheva from RE5... actually my favorite character from that game. Loved her personality, she was a lefty and I thought she did a fantastic job as your AI partner. Just give her all the healing items (I thought the computer healed at the perfect times in that game) and a SMG with a shitload of bullets. You have your own personal heal bot who can do a ton of damage at close range (which is usually when you need it done in that game)

I was young when the prequels came out and so he was to me what, well, pretty much most of the alien creatures from the original trilogy were to kids born around the '70s and '80s. I still think he gets alot of undeserved hate.
Also Barry from Alan Wake, you gotta admit that he came unto his own as something of a badass later in the game.

Another one: Ashley from RE4. People hate her because she made the gameplay much harder, but that was the whole point, she wasn't intended to help from a gameplay perspective. She was pretty hot too, although the fact that she was voiced by the same person who voiced Cindy from Jimmy Newtron negated that effect.

Frankly, there's just too many to list. I always tend to like the fun, quirky characters where as everyone else hates them and loves the bland, generic, cliche-ridden characters.
