I remember spending almost an hour getting together a little research and writing out all my thoughts in a (I thought) rhetorical, but lighthearted fashion when I tried to make my first thread. It had something to do with free will. I clicked post and... the thing disappeared. I couldn't find it on the forum and I still don't really know how to get at threads you've started from your profile.It appears that not even one person looked at it and it just disappeared under a flood of better threads.

I just hung my head and tried to ignore it.

You can look at every post you've made on your profile, but I don't think there's a way to only see threads you've started. Still, it shouldn't be too hard to find.


Anyway, I've made threads that failed but none on the escapist, only other forums. My threads either seem to do fairly well and get a few pages or get no replies at all, I've had relativly few with a happy middle ground.

On a roleplaying forum, me and a friend had the bright idea to create secret-identity accounts and stage a robbery of the main bank of the setting (which up until that point had been treated as a quasi-OOC entity, thus no one was expecting something like this).

Everything was going really well up until a couple of the other posters freaked out that we were taking their gold and all hell broke loose on an OOC level. A "trial" thread was posted in which we were unmasked and generally yelled at by the rest of the forum until the leader of the place showed up and told everyone to calm down.

I don't make them very often but the responses they get always make me happy, I think my latest one got to 12 pages. I'm just happy with 3 pages.

My "Gone Gonzo" thread crashed and burned, which really sucks because I actually spent some serious time thinking of a topic which I thought was interesting. Oh well... maybe my next thread will be a hit.

My threads always fail eipically. My 4000 post special garnered about 7 responses, and it was pretty long too.

I was lucky enough to get some good responses from some threads. Others just failed miserably. The most hurtful is when you get epically flamed second post in, which has happened to me at least once.

Also I'm not proud to admit it (I might even get punished for this) but once I actually made a thread specifically designed to garner a lot of responses... and I succeeded. It was about being rejected by girls and in retrospect I feel like a bit of a dick for being so cynical about the Escapist forum community. Really guys I love y'all.
