Having issues with bluetooth devices

So here's the deal: I currently work in pizza delivery, so I'm in and out of my car a lot. As such, I opt to connect my phone to my radio via bluetooth when listening to my own music and/or podcasts so that I don't have to constantly plug and unplug my phone from an aux cable. I can just get in, start-up the car, and go about my way only needing to un-pause the playback which is a single push of a button on my radio.

This has been working great, but I recently decided to buy a bluetooth ear piece. This is causing issues where my radio and phone refuse to connect unless I dig-out my phone and specifically tell it to connect to the radio, which defeats the convenience that had me using bluetooth over an aux cable in the first place. I tried disabling the media playback option on my ear piece, but still my radio has issues connecting when the ear piece is connected.

This has me wanting to find an app that can maybe manage this automatically, maybe by setting up a priority list or something. Ideally I'd like an app that can toggle media playback between devices depending on what's within range (I've also been thinking about getting a speaker for when I'm at home), but keeps phone functionality stationary on the ear piece when it's on, though really any kind of manager that fixes the issues with my radio not wanting to connect works. I've tried finding an app on Google Play, but I can only really find blue tooth file transfer apps and on/off widgets when I do any search that includes "bluetooth".

Also, my phone is Android-based, so I won't be able to use an app if it's only on iPhone.

PS: A related, but different issue I've been having. My phone has a "feature" where it'll lower the volume periodically so I don't "damage my ears", never minding that I use my radio to control the volume. The sound gets washed-out if the phone is out-putting at a lower volume since I have to turn the radio speakers higher to get the same sound level; not to mention causing issues where the sound is blasting when I switch to the radio. I've looked around the phone's sound options on my phone to disable this feature, but I couldn't find any options that sounded even remotely like what I'm looking for. So either I need to disable it in a different area, it isn't an option that sounds like what I think it should be, or maybe I'm just blind. In any case, how can I disable this "handy" feature?

So yes, those are my two main issues, at least as far as my phone goes. A way to better manage bluetooth devices, and a way to disable the automatic volume adjustment.

Did you try disabling phone audio for the car stereo if that is an option?

You could try setting Bluetooth Auto Connect [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en] to connect to your car stereo whenever you turn your screen on (so a few less steps). You could also try setting Tasker [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en] to periodically attempt to connect to your car (using the Bluetooth Auto Connect plugin) however that would probably hit the battery life pretty hard.

Have you tried just pressing or holding the Bluetooth button on your stereo when you get in the car? That may force it to connect even though your earpiece is already connected. If not maybe turn off your headset before you turn on the car and set Tasker to connect to your car when it disconnects from your earpiece in case you forget to turn it off first.

With the volume thing, unfortunately there is no setting. As I understand it's a mandated feature in some regions and unfortunately makes it's way into places where it's not a requirement. I have the same thing on my Galaxy S5 (Australia) but it went away when I installed Taiwan firmware to get the Lollipop update before it released here. It came back when I got the local update. For that you could try using Tasker to set your media volume to 15 whenever you connect to your car. Or you could try Hearing Saver [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jakebasile.android.hearingsaver&hl=en] as a simpler alternative.

*Nod nod*

I'll look into those, thanks. Especially Tasker. Skimmed the reviews, and it looks like there's a lot I could have that app do.
