HDMI cables. 1.3 or 1.4?

So im getting a PS3 soon (whenever my gamestop gets one in) and was looking at HDMI cables. I understand that the expensive ones are no better than the cheap ones but was wondering what is the difference between 1.3 and 1.4? And if the 1.4 are technically better, is there any improvement when gaming on a PS3?

I can only assume that 1.4 is newer. Therefore it should be better. On the PS3 I believe 1.3 will do just fine, as that's what I have and I don't have any problems.

Ya i assume its better too. I think its actually got 3D support for the new TVs that are coming out. I just don't know if it actually improves your picture quality on a PS3 or if it just has the 3d support added in.

Ya thanks that really didnt help. I already googled it and couldnt get a decent answer or one that made sense to me. I had already seen "1.4 adds ethernet and an audio return path so audio can go in both directions although I think the return path may be limited to 2 channels." but have no fucking clue what that means. Im askin on here so that I can get an answer that I can understand. So....if you can answer my question that would be appreciated...

All I know is 1.4 supports 3D and might be slight improvement. So, same price, go 1.4, cheaper for 1.3, go for that.

From what I could glean of some of those pages, it seems that 1.4 doesn't do anything more than 1.3 yet.

1.4 supports stupid high resolutions that no TV can display yet and also the whole 3D thing which I didn't even know had been released commercially yet. So I guess, buy 1.4 if you want to be using the same cable in 5 years. Why on earth would you need sound to go back into your PS3 from the TV?

Ya i have no clue what the audio thing is about. But ya the 3d tvs are just now starting to go on the market. I think they are like 6 grand or so for something that probably won't be used very much. but thanks for the help and letting me know.
