I have some Skullcandy in-ear buds and they are pretty decent. They go pretty loud, give a decent sound and they are pretty rugged. Mine lasted about 3 years before the cable split and I bought another set to replace them.

Also sometimes the more expensive and branded ones aren't always better, my friend forked out a load on some Bang & Olufsen headphones and the quality of the sound was really tinny and sometimes distorted on louder volumes.

You dont necessarily have to go for headphones. I've found that the now discontinued (although findable if you search hard enough) JVC HA-E53 over the ear clip on earphones have a superior sound quality and last for an extremely long time. This second pair of mine has lasted several years and the only part that failed were the ear cushions decomposing (E4 cushions so you can imagine how long that took).

Skullcandy earbuds have beautiful sound quality. Well-worth your buy... They're my favorite, really.

However, if you plan on being really rough with them, get a replacement plan for them. You can get these from your local RadioShack(if that store is in your area). I've gone through several pairs because I'm a bit rough on mine, and eventually the earbuds conk out and stop working, often not both at the same time.

I like them, but I've spent a fair bit on replacement pairs.

Everglide. They're awesome and the name only slightly reminds me of a type of lubrication.

The problem with Skullcandy is I know three pairs similar to the one Frequen-Z posted, and they all broke in the EXACT same way. Two of them belonged to me (got the second through warrantee) and the other belonged to a friend (in which he described how they broke). Now I can accept one-time occurrences where a company's product breaks, but...

"Skullcandy is the shit" is one word away from the truth.

I always stick with Sennheiser. Their sound is the best I've heard. Rumors among sound enthusiasts is that BOSE is the shit.
As for Skull Candy. They seem like a fad to me. You pay for the design as much as the hardware.

Hear hear.

Good in-ear headphones are great, ay. They usually have 3-6 different pairs of buds and you should find your own size amongst them. Keeping your ears clean keeps them from falling out :)
(A light and) Tight beanie also helps with that.

I had a 80€ pair of Skull Candy's, they sounded quite good, before they broke. If a head phone's design and look is better than average, it doesn't mean that they won't sound good, nor that the sound quality has been neglected because of the design team making a good job. I'm quite sure you'd be happy with Skull Candy's, even though Sennheiser as a brand would and will be the choice for me at the moment.

By the way, I've got an in-ear Creative EP-830 for traveling/running(came with ZEN X-Fi. Very good and the best ones you can get with a mp3 player) and Sennheiser HD 212 PRO for everyday use. A very nice value-for-price, even though the price seems have gone up here from 44€->60€.

Just remember that the price tag doesn't equal quality. And personal preferences always have the final saying. And you can never say for sure, what's the best choice for you, before you've read a bunch of reviews. Made a few choices and tried every one of those and go with the best.

OR you pick a brand, decide your price range, compare the 2-3 options you have, choose one and be confident that it's the best choice for YOU.

That's what I'd do.

I got Razer, and so far, they've been great, except that they get very painful after about 2 hours when wearing glasses.
