At the moment I'm using the "ear jacks" from my MP3 Player and every time there's strong bass noise I hear shaking noise, so I think it's time to get something more upmarket. I want to buy a pair of big "earmuff" ones (the kind that cover overthe whole ear). It would also need to block out outside noise fairly well (noisy house) but I don't really need a microphone or anything like that.

Could anyone give any recomendations of brands or models, because I'd like to get some value for money.

Thanks.

I'd recommend Sennheiser as a good brand, nice sound quality and brilliant build quality. I've got a pair of their PC155s (I think that's the model number) and I can't count the amount of times I've trodden on the cable as I stand up, they come through undamaged every time.

In my opinion, Sennheiser is THE brand. Not only are they very durable, but the sound quality is amazing. Although, Sennheiser is really for people who DO want amazing sound quality, and it isn't cheap. Price varies from 100 dollars to almost a thousand. I recommend you check out this website: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/ I also recommend that you try to figure out what you will be using them for, there's a lot of different stuff out there.

Okay. Thankyou both for your help. I looked around the site, the PC151's look good. Might get those.

If you are willing to forgo "earmuffs", Sennheiser also has a pair of "ear jacks" that are downright awesome in the way they stay put, block outside noise and provide great audio replay. You'll be paying more for these than for a regular pair of "ear jacks", but the hit on your wallet won't be anywhere near as bad as with full on "earmuffs".

I did see some while I was out it completely blocks out background noise but it is about £50 but that's the price for quality I guess
