Hello there! NOw I have been thinking about health care, here in Britain (Woo) life is alot different to America (Woo), which is funny as we have so much in common. But anyway we were talking in class the other day and it costs to have treatment in America when here in Britain it is free.
Now i'm sure many of you are aware this is true but I found out that it costs money to treat cancer which is kind of evil, isn't it? We here in England can pay for private dental plans and hospital treatment but also can have it free from the NHS. So what do people think of this...so I come to the escapist to ask.

Cheers!

Well that would be because we pay National Insurance for it. Since Americans don't, they have to pay the amount up front per person.

We still pay for ours and more in the form of National Insurance. The yanks pay only for what they use, wheras we pay regardless of what healthcare we've needed. So, they win financially.

until they get bankrupted for the insanely expensive medical care that they require, of course.

edit: apparently, the US spends more on health care than us too.

I found a cool site here [http://www.pluralofanecdote.com/], which has a bunch of health care stories from around the world.

There's a simple solution to that: Don't get ill.

you know, I can't even tell when people are being sarcastic anymore. I'll guess that you are, because people seriously making that argument just makes me really sad

Typed sarcasm is hard to detect anyway. For the record I was.

It must be nice, frankly, to be able to go to the doctor. I'm a college student so I have no insurance.

The health care debate is huge over here.

I think [a href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NevFL1rGeew]John Green[/a] said it best when it comes to thoughts on our health care system.

It's a headache. And very much a business over here.

I say the scandinavian way is the best.
Incidentally I live in denmark, that might bias my opinion...

Also, it is odd to see how america has the most expensive health care in the world and yet france has the best?
