As the title kind of explains ,my computer keeps making this clicking noise ,nothing seems to be really affected except startup which goes really slowly also sometimes it won`t let me log on saying it can`t connect to the "system notification service" (or something along those lines) so my question is ,should i really be panicking about this?? or not?? and prehaps slightly more to the point WTF is it???

It could be something as simple as a fan bearing, but without hearing it I really can't tell you.

Is ckicking short hand for chicken kicking?

Take it in to get serviced, a.s.a.p. Or quickly run and get insurance on it.

Mine did that for a while about a year ago. The fan was totally caked with dust and lint, I broke ut the vaccume and cleaned off everything on the inside of the box... problem solved.

Might be a loose bolt or something, being wiggled around by a fan, but I dunno.

Anyone got a reason as to why mine may be making a very high pitched squeek occassionally? Might just be my ears but still.

My computer makes a weird noise every now and then too, which is especially stressful for me, cause I'm a Graphic Designer, and whenever I hear it, my pointer moves to save as fast as possibly can.

If it's really that bad, I'd sell it off. I know it doesn't sound like a good idea at first, but there are certain computer junkies out there who will pay far more than expected for a broken computer (something about collecting parts, I couldn't care less.)

Could be a fan obstruction or hard drive issue. First, check all of your case fans, the fan on your power supply, and the CPU fan for obstructions of any type. While you have your computer open, get a can of compressed air and clean out any dust buildup.

If that doesn't fix anything, run a hard drive scan using step 3 of this tutorial [http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/speed.aspx] and see if it turns up bad sectors-these could be causing your slowdowns.

If the clicking is coming from your hard drive, and you have a lot of bad sectors, it's possible that it has a mechanical issue. If that's the case, you should probably back up your data and replace the drive. New hard drives aren't terribly expensive, and losing your data is a pain in the ass.

Hopefully it's just a fan issue.

Edit: the optical drive could also click, so take any CDs/DVDs out before you check for the noise again.

Um, might want to back up all your data. The clicking may be a sign that your hard drive is about to die.
EDIT:Damn ninja'd

does it run slowly when you run programs? cause that could change the answer but here are a few solutions

1 bad hard drive or at least bad sectors on it, would be running slow most of the time
2 spyware/adware, easiest fix by running spybot and adaware and a good virus scan
3 severely fragmented hard drive, easy fix as well, just defrag the hard drive
4 too much on your hard drive, free up some space and probly defrag it

At first progams will run slowly but after a few minutes it picks up
