Am i the only one putting up a fuss about these two remakes? I know I'm a little late but I thought I'd let the game sink in to people before i started ranting a bit.

Now, I don't want to talk to much about the games, or else i know someone out there will go "this should be in the review section" but I think Silver was the best game of the Pokemon series. Also realize that I am by no means calling it perfect in any way. There are a lot of things that were "bad" in Silver and a lot of things that I could have change or could have been better. However, notice the words "could have." A wise man once said two things: "Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD," and "...remakes are bad." Silver had a lot of things that made it solid and a good game. It had some things bad about it, but most of the things i can say were bad were just things that were featured in later releases (running shoes, for example) that are only bad in retrospect, not as far as game quality goes.

While Silver and Gold were good, did they really deserve remakes? Not everything that is good should get a remake, not even if its to fix mistakes or make it more modern.

I dunno, did anyone else throw a small fuss inside themselves when they heard the games were being put out again, or was that just me?

Well, for me it's a good thing. I never actually got to play the original versions... or rather I did, but on a friend's game where they didn't let me save.

Honestly though, to me the games have degraded since ruby/sapphire, so if they put it to that style, I would be perfectly happy. As it is I'll settle for this.

OoT on the Wii? Nty =|

and parts of OoT strived because of the N64...at least, imo. i mean, part of me liked the N64's boxy graphics when it came to 3D, it had a sort of humor to it lol

EDIT: OH YEA i forgot. they did release OoT on the Gamecube. I wasnt impressed. It really added nothing impressive

and all of the weapons will be replaced with walkie talkies and the entire cast will be digitally replaced by ewoks
(this is a sarcastic south park joke if anyone doesn't understand)

I dunno, I think if you can remake a game and improve on some of the features that weren't quite there in it's time, you should. Maybe I'm a sucker for nostalgia, but I love remakes. Yes, I know they're derivative, yes, I know they're not doing the gaming industry any favors... But I still like them.

I'm really excited for Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Gold was the last Pokemon game I played start to finish, so I'll be interested to see how far the series has come since the GBC.

The games where probably the best in the series. So its not just based on Nostalgia, they are actually really good games. Pokemon games are different than normal ones. Plus they have a ton of replay value.

the save batteries in my copies of the games are now dead... I can't play them anymore. This is why a remake is necessary for some games

cant you send it in somewhere to just get the battery replaced? (although if doing so would cost more than just buying the new game, i could see your point indeed)

I had looked into it at one point, but it's so much of a hassle, and the battery quality wasn't as good as the original one Nintendo put into it that it wasn't worth it.

I'm still waiting for a Link's Awakening remake... (Though I did love Silver :) )

Same thing happened to my old Gold and Silver versions; thank God I got Crystal as well. I actually went back and restarted my game when I caught a bad cold last year.

I think that it's good that they remade those, because it seemed like that was the best done generation, IMO. Going through two different areas and having essentially two storylines was pretty sweet.

And Feraligatr was a fucking badass.

Those were my favorite in the series, and i'm very excited to play them again. And to the person I quoted, you are so right about Feraligator. He's my favorite starter hands down (although Blazikon was a very close second).

I recently fell back into love with the Pokemon franchise. After playing through Silver, I skipped Generation 3 (Ruby/Sapphire) entirely, and it took me a couple years to get around to Generation 4 (Diamond/Pearl). I had fun with Pearl, but not on the same level as before. That being said, it was still enough to rekindle my interest in the series.

I'm actually in favor of the Gold/Silver remakes. Silver was my favorite Pokemon game (Lugia FTW!), and since my Gameboy Color is currently back at home, this is the next best thing that could happen. Soul Silver may just end up being the first Pokemon I've purchased in a long time (I only rented Pearl).

I've played every generation, save for the newest one, and I have to say Totodile was my favorite starter. Teach him ice punch, and you've got yourself a bonafide dragon-killer.

When I got my rom for one of the G3 games, I chose Torchic, but cheated and got Totodile as well as Bulbasaur.

It should make for quite an interesting game.

They're the only ones I'd ever warrant rereleases for. None of the others deserve another rerelease. Everything else before ruby and sapphire was rereleased. Enough with it already.

I liked Cyndaquil more, personally. Never really saw the appeal of Totodile.

Piplup trumps them both, anyway. So cute....
