For those of you not aware Heavy Rain will be blessing us later this month, and the demo will be coming sooner than that. By sooner I mean this week and by this week I mean TODAY. I didn't realize you could get it today but apparently it's a benefit that certain people get for completing a game.

So you finish the game online and you get to try out Heavy Rain seems fair. Anyway I found out completely by accident but I figured "Why not give everyone else a heads-up?" so why not try it out yourselves?

Link to a website that'll help right here
http://kotaku.com/5464839/want-the-heavy-rain-demo-right-now-heres-how-%5Bupdate%5D

but you can also just look up "Heavy Rain demo" either way you'll be on your way to playing in no time. I want to tell you how it was but that would just ruin the suprise.

Also just to add some discussion, if you played the demo what are your thoughts, and do you think it's fair that only some people get their hands on the demo while it passes others by?

Considering the demo comes out tomorrow, I think I'll just wait. Plus, I need to set up a PSN account already and start up my free warranty; it's been almost six months and I still haven't set up. I'm such a bad procrastinator.

Makes it more realistic, you have to do that sort of thing in real life, so if you're trying to make a game realistic then why not? I'll agree it's a little "Mundane" but how better to get you used to the controls? Would you rather they taught you how to play when you're in a fight or have to make a quick decision?

What are you talking about? It's one of the best uses for the square button I've ever seen.

Think of what else buttons have been used for:
press button to reload a gun (as seen in every shooting games)
hold button to contract right index finger (every shooting game)
hold button to walk (every fps)
hold another button on top of that, or alternatively tap that burron fast to run (see above)
button mash to lift weights (GTA:SA)
press triangle to consume hot dog / burger (GTA)
press button to jump (everything)
press button to apply force in a leg (racing games)

Compared to millions of other actions, holding one button to drag a fat guy behind a dumpster is one of the least mundane.

That's a good point, never thought of it like that. A little too specific in what each button does, "Fire gun" works as well as "Contract right index finger" but still, good point.

Nah, I'd just rather my games not be like real life. It's a matter of taste.

Would've been helpful if you said that earlier you just said it was mundane. But whatever it is a matter of preference, I just wanted to direct you to the demo so you could give me your thoughts. Even if you don't like the demo it might still be worth a rental, I don't believe demos ever accurately portay the entire game.

Well it was pretty mundane...

I tried it out, already saw a video of the what the demo does but I played it through a few times to see the differences if you do things differently.

The dialogue changes.

The fight scene and character wounds change.

That's just the short term stuff. I'm sure if you say, didn't leave 50 bucks on the table for the lady then perhaps she cannot leave that place, and if you didn't leave your card there then she never tells you anything else.

I didn't expect much replay value in the demo but I'm glad I got plenty. That was just the first 20-30 minutes. Extend that to 8 hours and I say "Don't shit your pants..."
Yeah but I was a little dissapointed in only getting to try two characters, still the demo did it's job, which is to make me wanna buy the game.

I got the demo a few days ago, so I've had my share of it. I personally thought it was pretty fun, the fight was fast and frantic and I thought that it was more controllable then it originally seemed.

I was already going to buy it but it's nice to have the demo to make the 12 days go by quickly.

Well Ethan's story I believe is done first in the actual game, no? I don't think that want any of the story told much in the demo. You learn nothing from the whore and just learn that Orchids are the cool thing to leave on bodies from Norman.

The one think I don't like is the asthma deal. If you don't press R1 then the scene just looks until you do. Even then you only have to press it once to stop the attack.

Also, you don't have 10 minutes with the whore, more like 4.
You may only have 4 minutes but who's counting, right? That dude has some weird asthma though, walking down the hall is a problem but get into a fight and he's doing just fine.

awesome. just plain awesome. of course, its a lot like the indigo prophecy (especially the controls), but with nothing supernatural in it. thank god for that!
