It's no masterpiece, but going so far as to suggest it had the worse obviously is going to make you out as a blind hater...=/

The story has it flaws but it is still an fun game overall. Even if the replay value is remarkably lower than anticipated. I am surprised that this game has so many damn plotholes.

Ergh, I couldn't get halfway through that article. It struck me as far too nitpickey and frivolous.

If you think that Heavy Rain has the worst writing ever, you've never played any JRPGs. You're also probably a troll, like the OP.

Has OP played the game to the end? because as you go on in the story many of the points made in this article become irrelevant.
This whole thing looks like someone forgot that their deadline was up and had to rush a piece on random bullshit. Who writes an article on a story that you are only 4 hours into? Thats ridiculous.
The first half of page 1 has nothing to do with heavy rain but that aside, if the guy had actually listened to ethans thoughts in the game it would have explained that yes he did think he might be the oragami killer and thats why he did not go to the police. Overall a pretty pointless piece of writing that is at least as bad as the writing in Fahrenheit.

Killzone 2 still boasts worst screenplay, in my mind. Also, remember Quantic Dream are ESL.

I agree with the JRPG thing, but I think the article makes some good points. A game who's main draw is the story should be done.

Normally it'd be a "Calm down, just a game" response, except of course this is one game where every aspect of plot and every potential contradiction is crucial.
This is why they should make a 3D, next-gen Phoenix Wright game. Those cases can get so damn complex (the body was killed here, moved there, someone was doing something unrelated mistaken for killing here, this was all done to cover up for a crime committed 4 years ago that was never quite solved, etc.), and so far the fanbase is able to neatly explain almost every plothole.

Holy nitpicking, Batman!
Seriouly though, not even close. If that's what makes writing dumb for you, I can't even imagine how you deal with any other games/movies/books.
Heavy Rain had plotholes far worse.

At least it had a reference to ReBoot. He gets points for that at the very least.

Well it probably is the single worst first person narrative in history because of who the killer ends up being and a certain game mechanic. The game basically violates what amounts to a physical constant.

Ah Killzone 2
Rico - "Arc Towers!"
Natko - "Shit! No-one told us that!"
Sev - "Square's still hot!"
-thirty second pause-
Rico - "I know!"

Or the sandwich argument.

The only lines that are given with any sort of competence come from the Helghast. It might be one of the reasons more people sympathize with them. They can actually make articulate speech.

First of all, I admit to not having played the game. However, just reading the article, unless the stuff in there is flat out made up, it does sound like a swiss cheese of plot holes. Specifically, how sloppy the investigation surrounding the Origami killer was conducted and how people involved seem to have been witholding information from the authorities, only to spill it at first chance to the private detective...

You know, there should be SOME space for an actual conversation yeah? You can't just say It's Bad and refuse anyone else's opinion yeah?

and maybe TRY to write a thread you actually thought about, not just wrote up for the sake of writing up.

[sub]Never played the game, wouldn't know.[/sub]

Simply, labeling anything the worst ever makes me auto-disagree. The writing was nothing masterful but it was far from the worst ever. I enjoyed what I got through so far actually.

It couldn't possibly be worse than Indigo Prophecy. The second half of that game is the very definition of clusterfuck.

This, I don't know if the arguments got better later, but for the first two entries they were simply tiny nitpicks that had really no overall effect.

Just a quick FYI - I didn't think it was the worst game story ever. That is, and always shall be, Dead to Rights.
