Heavy Rain patch......weirdness

So I got Heavy Rain today and decided to play. It demanded I download that mysterious huge patch that apparently glitches the game and after starting one attempt and quitting (the timer screwed up) instead of pressing X to download it I accidentally hit O to go back.

Which sent me into the game as though no patch was required :S

Has anyone else had this? Is that patch even necessary (since googling suggests it doesn't help the game and causes glitches)?

Hmm wierd but the game is workable without it. I'm wondering if the patch is supposed to clear up a glitch where you could play as the journalist chick totally naked (forget her name lol ><)

I borrowed it a little while back and I don't recall the update... might have just blocked it out of my memory tho hah

Happened to me with Brutal Legend when my internet was dodgy the Download for the patch took an age so i just pressed back and played care free.
