I didnt have much intrest in the game but I knew others on here did and where hoping it is good and so im going to post the reviews as they come in. (though I dont know if many people pay attention to reviews.)

So far...

UK Official PlayStation Magazine scored the game 9 out of 10
British magazine GamesMaster gave the game a score of 91%
GameRankings 91.61% [40]
Metacritic 89/100 [41]
Review scores
1UP.com A-[42]
Eurogamer 9/10
Famitsu 37/40
Game Informer 9.5/10
GamePro 5/5
GamesMaster 91%
IGN 9.0/10[43]
Official PlayStation Magazine (US) 5 stars out of 5
X-play - 4 out of 5

Heavy Rain has been met with positive reception. The UK Official PlayStation Magazine scored the game 9 out of 10, with reviewers saying, "I'm convinced it's one of the freshest, most exciting, and even important games on PS3 so far." The magazine praised the effective controls of the game, as well as the pacing of the story, which the reviewer described as key, and perfectly designed to create an "exhausting, exhilarating, and, crucially, involving" experience. He concluded by saying that, "Certainly there's nothing quite like it on PS3, or indeed any other system. Put gaming conventions aside, go in with no expectations other than this is something new and massively good-looking, and you'll be rewarded with a unique experience that lurches between genius and madness, manages to be genuinely emotional, and that you'll be bursting to talk about with your friends."[44] Eurogamer France also gave the game a score of 9 out of 10, saying, "The game of Quantic Dream has touched me, unquestionably, as a player because it symbolizes today the culmination of a genre halfway between cinema and video game that has always seemed interesting in its intentions but rarely conclusive." The reviewer concludes by saying, "A high score, therefore, to welcome risk-taking that represents this type of production today." [45]

British magazine GamesMaster gave the game a score of 91%, complimenting Heavy Rain for being 'incredibly original and compelling.' It adds, "The atmosphere is incredible - full of driving rain (which becomes central to the plot), fizzing neon lights, dank apartments and warehouses. It's a dark noir game, not a bright adventure." The title was also given a GamesMaster Gold Award.[46] IGN's Chris Roper scored the game 9.0/10 commenting specifically on the game's "fantastic story that's one of the best in gaming."[43]

I found the review scores so far on Wikipedia.

I don't care so much about the reviews as what in gods name is it actually about. I mean, does anyone know? Are these reviewers guessing because they think the missed the point? Is this all a huge prank and someone is laughing there arse off?

Looking at the front cover, it's a game about Origami.

Your trying to track a serial killer known as the Origami Killer.
You play 4 differant people trying to find him.

A private detective.
An FBI Profiler
A photo journalist
And a father who's son was taken by the killer. He is also an architect in case anyone wants to know.

Thats the bare bones basics of it.

edit: Thanks for the corrections A1.

Good to hear, but this was an automatic purchase for me. Fahrenheit is one of my favourite games, had Heavy Rain on pre-order for months.

It's a movie that you control, if your character dies then there is no continue, you just carry on without that person.

The story is about a killer who leaves origami pieces behind and you have to find out who it is.

I'm, unfortunately, in the same boat. Though borrowing my friends ps3 might not work because I buy my games from the states and his ps3 is from the UK, hmmm....

Whoa I just made a thread about review scores and predicted it would get around 89. Not bad! I'll give it a rent.

So like a reimagining of Cluedo?

I joke, well since i can't buy this game due to it's exclusivity i won't learn more than that lest it irritates me that i can't have it, but thank you for informing me. A small part of me was hoping it was a game about doing origami in extreme weather, but i guess that will always remain a fools dream.

Yeah, Indigo Prophecy was good, but it's always marred in my eyes by the bat-shit-crazy final act. If these review scores are any indication, Heavy Rain doesn't suffer the same problem, so fingers crossed.

Oh, and I wish I had a PS3, but oh well, I'll play it at a friend's house.

It's currently sitting at 95 on Metacritic, if that means anything to anyone.

Makes me happy for my pre-order. Yay for Sony supporting original games.

I've been wondering this..
Is there a scenario where ALL the main characters die and if so, how does the game handle that? Do you just get a solemn "game over, you suck, the blood of five people is on your hands. Nice job, you tw*t?"

Or is there an actual "ending" for that scenario? I know the creator said he'd prefer if everyone just played through it ONE time, even though the game is designed to change with every play through so you never get the same game twice.
Which leads me to a second question..

IF you never play the same game twice, does that mean that the origami killer is never the same person? Does the killer's identity change every time you beat the game based on decisions and actions you've taken?

I liked the first half of Indigo Prophecy. This game is of the same stock.

I wouldn't mind playing it on my computer, or on a PS3 10 years from now when they're $50 off Craig'sBay.

I have absolutely no idea about either of those things.

It's just what I have read on a game website and after reading it I have no intention of finding out, it sounds like a pretentious piece of over hyped tripe.
