Heihachi Gives In to Vanity for New Tekken Trailer

The head of the Mishima Corporation goes for the Hair Club special for the next Tekken game.

Heihachi Mishima, probably the Tekken series' longest standing villain, clearly wants to look his best for the second Tekken Tag Tournament games. To that end, he's had a little work done, and now looks younger than ever.

The most noticeable change is that his hair is now back to the original color it was in the first two Tekken games. Slightly stranger, however, is the fact that he now has a lot more of it than he's ever had before, having found a way of combating baldness that can withstand the rigors of a martial arts tournament. The Tekken Tag games are non-canonical however, so this sudden youthfulness doesn't actually need any explanation.

Aside from Heihachi's slightly disconcerting case of de-aging, which makes him look younger than his son, Kazuya, the trailer for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 features various fan favourites from previous games, as well as a new addition to the Tekken roster, in the form of an as-yet unnamed female luchadora.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 comes out in Japanese arcades next summer, with console versions to follow at an unspecified date.

What the hell happened to heihachi? D= Not that it's bad it just looks.. different. This new mysterious lady doesn't seem all that interesting though.

Villain? I thought that was son, but whatever...

As for what's behind his looks, either clone, robot, time travel, or a medicinal treatment. Or Joe Quesada dictated that he should be young again. Any explanation would work.

Huh.
I gotta say i do like the Character Designs in Tekken for the most part.
And Heihachi does look cool.

Though i wonder how his new hair will effect his opponents ability to juggle him.
Hopefully a Gameplay video will be released to give some insight on how many juggles we will be able to do and how the Juggle Mechanics will work in this one.

So looking forward to this! My Hwoarang/Xiaoyu tag team will be back.. and hopefully they'll have their occasional helper that is P-Jack.

The new female luchador is interesting, though I've never really enjoyed playing a grappler in the Tekken series. Makes me wonder who the other new characters will be.

Tekken Tag is sort of a dream match style game where canon is totally ignored in place of fun match ups. There's rumours floating around that this new young Hei is actually Heihachi if he had the devil gene that Kaz and Jin have.

Sweet! Could this mean I can get my Asuka/Jun tag team?!

Maybe, maybe not (oh well, there's always Miguel/Dragunov). Either way, having a Tekken Tag game with at least Tekken 5-level graphics is something to celebrate. And a new wrestler, wonder how she plays. What little is in that video kinda looks somewhere between Christie and El Blaze from Virtua Fighter...

I was hoping for Heihachi's clothes to be renewed like it was in the 1st one.
Like this...

To be fair, a lot of Christie and, by proxy, Eddy Gordo's moves are taken from lucha libre and gymnastics. It's called capoeira, but it's not pure capoeira.

With that out of the way, I'll definitely look into this new Tekken Tag Tournament game. Never owned them on console but I loved playing them in the arcades back in the day.

Isn't the game called Tekken Tag 2 Tournament? Or are we supposed to ignore the horrible logo?

TEKKEN TAG 2!?!?!?!?

Holy god... The first Tekken Tag is still the best Tekken game to date. And now we get "combo" moves? Ahh nostalgia so much.

Hwoarang, Baek Doo San, Yoshimistu, and Jin Kazama. Time to get back into the swing of things!

Since Tekken Tag isn't canon, a younger Heihachi is a perfectly plausible character to play as, regardless of "de-aging". I just want Ogre to be a character again.

How is still held together? And what hair dye does he use now? Jerry Louise black? The Tekken series is older than dinosaurs, and Heihachi's doubly so. So sick of fighting Devil, so I think I'll just give this one a miss.

To be honest, in other game canon Heihaci has traveled to alternate universes...

So de-aging isn't too far off the cards...

I still kind of prefer old, balding Heihachi though...
Was somehow more badass.

All I could think when I saw that 'Hey look, it's Angry Joe with an absurd hairstyle!'

(I haven't kept up on Tekken in case you can't tell.)

Well, the graphical style looks fucking atrocious but this may actually be the first Tekken game I buy since Tekken 4 *shudder*
I absolutely loved Tekken Tag Tournament. It was easily my favourite, and I quite liked the unknown girl too. Would be cool to see her again.
