So it's been an argument for sometime that video games are becoming "old and tiresome", with every game, we see the same old concept, just with updated graphics...

Now, I know the concept of this isn't brand new, but what if it were possible to actually "Become the game".

For instance, instead of playing a racing game on a TV screen, you actually become (virtually) the driver of the car, and your room becomes the track.

It's a little hard for me to explain, but I think you get the jist of it.

Anyway, what do you all think, is it possible?

EDIT: The closest thing I can think of would be the TV show Chaotic. Not sure how many of you have seen it.

As an idea, that's amazing. But to get it to a good level of realism that still maintaints a good control scheme and doesn't cost more than your average house, well... I think that technology is a few years off. And by a few I mean we'll be dead or close to it =P

Aye, it was. We've got the basic components for a very primitive one, but for a refined and realistic form of virtual reality, we really are a long way off. However, whenever it does occur I want to port Left 4 Dead into it. Left 4 Dead and WoW.

The technology for somthing like that just is not present yet but when it is it will be awesome.

This is an interesting concept but, we're at least a decade or more away from having the technology to do it. Sit and wait patiently and, maybe we'll get our virtual reality someday.

You can already do that with the power of your mind, but then people in white jackets will probably come to your house and take you away
