Hellsing Anime

I have never watched anime and originally never intended to do so cause it didnt really appeal to me. Sorry if I have misinterperted some things I dont know a lot about it and this is basicly some info I gained by going through a few pages on the internet.

However I discovered an anime serie called "Hellsing Ultimate" I read a little info about it. And its basicly a bunch of vampires with guns protecting the world from other Supernatural evils. Browsing through a few pages on the internet I found out that a few villians on the show are Vampire WWII nazis and a KKK regiment.

So you have vampires with guns killing vampire nazis and KKK members.

All in all that sound pretty awesome. I originally loved the Blade and Underworld movies so I love vampires and all that is supernatural. I just never watched anime about it.

So I got a few questions

Do you think I will like this serie? Do you think this is a good anime too start with if you have never watched it before? And what are your opinions on the Hellsing anime?

Just one thing, though. They haven't released all the episodes yet, and I'm not really sure when the next episode will be releasing.

It's great. Ultimate is closer than the manga than the (HORRIFYINGLY SHITTY) first anime. It's pure win.

Also: they're not KKK members: they're essentially Catholic inqisition. So it's kinda like... Protestants (with vampires and mercs) vs Nazis (original guys with thier youth restored with incomplete vampirism and some new recruits) vs Catholics (inquisition type of thing)
It's win.

Hellsing Ultimate is epic, way better than the other Hellsing series. Finally decent nasty vampires and lots of gore. Whether it's a good anime to start with? I really wouldn't know. But it's incredibly awesome! Watch it! The night is young. Hurry, hurry, hurry... Hurry hurry hurry! The real fun's just begun! Hurry! HURRY!!!

Maybe it's just me, but the fact that it isn't set in Japan made it easier for me to get into. It helps that the english dub actors are FREAKING AMAZING! Hellsing probably has the best dubbing of any anime ever. It's a little story light, but the action is awesome and it's hard not to grin at some of the ultra violence.

The only issue with it is that it isn't quite finished yet, I believe there's still 3 episodes that need to be released. They'll be out hopefully within the year.

There's also another Hellsing anime that diverges from the original story that while not quite as good is still decent, it also has a conclusion.

I have Hellsing Ultimate 1-4 (English Versions).

And yes, you will love it. its just cool all around. You probably wont like everything (it has its fair share of anime flaws).

But when it comes down to it, its a story about a Protestant Sponsored Vampire vs. Nazis vs. The Catholic church.

I'm happy you've decided to not let stereotypes get in the way of enjoying a good series (and possibly others). Remember Sturgeons law; 90% of everything is crap (but that also means that there is always good stuff to find if you're willing to look). This is ULTRA true for anime/manga (it's actually probably more like 95% nowadays, but that's just me thinking out loud).

Anyway, yes, the Manga/anime of Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate is absolutely awesome. It has excellent voice acting in English, which is always nice, and, in fact, may be a little better in English because of the overt use of accents (no, really, actually having the characters speak with proper accents, like the Irish preist having an Irish accent, is really nice). The animation is great, the action is brutal and fun-as-hell, and overall, it's just badass.

The original Hellsing anime, on the other hand, while not bad, isn't really all that good (Kohta Hirano, the Mangaka, is extraordinarily slow; it took him over a decade to make the entire series, and it's a series that only has abour 11 issues), so when they ran out of material, they just kinda' made shit up for the original anime. Hellsing Ultimate, on the other hand, is very true to the Manga it's based off of.

Watch it! It's highly entertaining in it's brutality, and actually has scary vampires! The scariest of them being the good guy!
But watch it dubbed rather than subbed - you need the accents in this one. Sadly only the first 4 episodes have actually been dubbed so far

Judging by the replies I will probably love this. Brutal gore sounds pretty awesome. Its also nice to know that the English dub is actually decent. I watched Southpark dubbed German once (Yes I know its not anime but its still cartoonish and a little a like) and it just made my head explode.
