My question is a simple one: does Sony require you to use their cord to connect the PSP to a PC? I ask because I have an MP3 player that has the same connector on it as the PSP and I would like to transfer some files to my PSP (namely music files so I do not have to tote around 70 tons of electronics) using my PC as the go-between. The files transfered to the PC well enough, but Ubuntu is not detecting the PSP. Is this a problem with the cord, the PSP or the PC/OS? Has anyone run into this problem before?

I would also like to know if it is desirable to jailbreak your PSP, but this is a secondary concern.

OK, let's see if the title works this time...
Windows only mate. At least I'm pretty sure it's windows only, but it may be able to hook up to OSX too. Also any mini-usb cord will work. Same as the PS3 controllers
