Muti-player doesn't do anything for me and I've been unimpressed at any of the single-player I've seen from BF, so BF4 is out.

OTOH, I'm kind of burnt out on COD. I was really, really burnt out after MW3, but somehow, BO2 managed to be somewhat innovative and get me somewhat interested again. Right now it's down to: Don't buy or wait for a really good steam sale for COD:Ghosts.

Ghosts is out.
Facts:
It is 28.6GB in size. Nowhere close to the 40 GB promised.
It has a built in requirements check, so for example if you have 5 GB of ram instead of 6 GB the game will refuse to start. there is already a crack for that. on minimum settings game uses a total of 1.1 gb of ram. completely messed up Infinity Ward here. same for other requirements, though no fixes that i know of to trick the program yet.
Ghosts has worse graphics than BF4, however has higher requirements (not really, the written requirements are unrealistically high).
Ghosts has a better singleplayer, if only because BF4 singleplayer was a level of sharknado disaster.

Bsically Ghosts, at least as far as PC version goes, is a completel disaster technically. As for how good the game is - thats subjective and i dare not claim to know the answer.

Personally though id say if you want singleplayer only - get COD. if you want multiplayer too - get BF4.

Theres a phrase that has existed and will continue to exist for battlefield. Its "Only in battlefield".
Only in Eve Online.
Only in Civilization.
Only in.. well you get my point.
All games have this. In fact, i have recently been playing COD4 with a friend that plays it, and i had quite a few moments where i just burst laughing because "yeah, now that is something we can only see in this game".

Each games have its pulleys and if you appreciate them, you can get such experiences everywhere. Well almost everywhere, but trhen again even Ride to Hell tribution could be used as very funny game if you look at it of "how else can we make this game fuck up".

Though i have to admit BF does seem to be a good playground for such moments. Well at least the ones before BF3, heres hoping its true for BF4 too.

The far more open design of BF4s maps (and BF3's endgame DLC maps) make for a wider range of awesome moments IMO. That said, I still think battlefield bad company 2's mass destruction still has much more room for such moments.

Do you want to be one of many in a giant war battle with vehicles, or do you want a smaller more action hero experience focused on personal weaponry? Choice A is Battlefield, Choice B is CoD. Both are valid. I prefer B though myself.

You should read more Eve-Online news forum threads then, plenty of them. for civilization that tends to be more localized beucase its primarely singleplayer experience. and one that would take a lot of explaining of previuos events to understand.

It really comes down to a preference in play style.

Both shooters are competent at what they do. BF4's new modes level the playfield somewhat as you can play a CoD style match sans vehicles and killstreaks but with BF mechanics.

If you prefer twitch-shooters, lone-wolf style play, team-deathmatch style games, shorter games, a frenetic pace and a more arcadey feel, get CoD.
If you prefer tactical options, larger maps, team style play, Capture-point play (CtF, Domination, etc.), longer matches, vehicles (or you just hate the killstreak system) get BF4.

On the X360 BF4s maps do sometimes feel a little empty of action because most of the players usually end up fighting in the same specific area. I does lead to plenty of capture options, flanking moves and freedom so it isn't all bad. Besides, Rush mode and Conquest by their nature provide areas where the action will be and the new respawn camera system is great for putting you safely back in the action so you're never too far away from a good fight.

I used to love CoD but over the last few iterations I've been pushed BF's way. Horses for courses though.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the new battlefields. And from what I've heard from friends playing BF4, its the most CoD battlefield to date. From information I read online it didn't seem it would be, but that's what my sources are telling me so I've avoided it like the plague. BF3 was terrible, and I don't want anything like that again.

Coincidentally, I've never liked CoD, so I've avoided that like the plague too.

If they've made the maps more populated than they were in 3, so they're more like the Market maps, Sien crossing and, dare I say, Metro as opposed to the big, completely empty wastelands that were maps like the desert one and Caspian Border, then I'd probably go for battlefield. If the maps are still largely empty, flat ground with little cover - no.

And who exactly plays BF for the single player? Honestly. BF is and always will be at it's core a multiplayer experience.

Welp, lemme tell ya right now, I got my copy of BF4. Still haven't even tore the plastic to open it yet. I knew there were going to be a LOT of bugs, especially online. Hell, Gamestop's preorder bonus for it was a code that gave Double XP for it's launch weekend only. If that doesn't scream "start playing immediately so we know what fuck-ups exist" idk what does. But, now that a bit of the dust (and I'll say it again, DUST) is settling, I may pop the disc in the tray this week. (Yes, dirty console peasant here.)

If BF4 is anything like BF3, which I'm 85% sure it is since publishers can get away with copy/pasting the same shit over and over, it should be fun. The maps that you found to be too large, instead stick to smaller game types like Team/Squad deathmatch. It's all about the game types that usually determine how big or small a map is. As for the emptiness, I imagine it'll be like that for the next week or so, until more dunderheads like myself will play it after all the first wave of major bugs have been patched.

exactly my point.. why blow the money on COD of BF4 when planetside 2 is free and much better multiplayer (2000 per map) and the single players in CoD and BF4 are shitty afterthoughts.
