I live in a neighborhood with a lot of greenery. It's nice, but it does lead to huge numbers of pests during the summer months and beyond. While it's well known that bananas attract certain kind of flies, we've never had too much of a problem with them until now.

At the start of the month we had a bunch of bananas swarmed with tiny bugs I would assume to be fruit flies, though they had no effect on the fruit itself. Though we stopped buying bananas for a while to try and cut back on their numbers, these things have now decided to make a nest of our house. They hide in the laundry and the kitchen, somehow breeding en masse without any food and nimble enough to make killing more than a handful a real hassle. It's getting disgusting, not to mention aggravating. We've killed seven today but we all suspect more will appear. Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation, and if so, how? We don't want to have to fumigate for something so small.

When you said infestation problem I expected you needed help from zombie-specialist Firetaffer, but alas, it's just a bug problem.

If you ever need help with zombies though, remember to contact me, and I can supply you with all the goods you need, from crossbows to molotovs, from chainsaws to katanas.

Remember to only ever aim for the head, only then can you 'kill' it. Be careful not to approach said head after it's 'dead' though, it will most likely still try to bite. There are several books that are focused on the matter but I would wholeheartedly recommend the Zombie Survival Guide.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide

Thank you for your patience and I hope your bug problem gets solved.

It happpens in our house to that is why i prefer winter no bugs
OT: try to find their nest and use something that is made for exterminating bugs (in sweden we have a thing called "radar" it is really effective) and lay som paper on the floor in that room or else you might find hundreds or more dead bugs, repeat 3-4 times once per day .

If it is fruit flies, wipe down your food prep surfaces (counter, microwave, kitchen sink) and waste disposal area with a water+white vinegar mixture or if you're willing, bleach(it doesn't have to be super-strong, I usually use around 1:6). After that, pour the leftover vinegar and water down your sink, then place the stopper in it and put an inch of water in the sink. For the next 24 hours, make sure absolutely NO food is left in the open. Any wrappers, containers, etc should be brought straight out of the house to the trash. After the 24 hours, the vast majority, if not all of the flies should be dead from starvation and/or old age. I know the lifespan of a fruit fly is debated to be +24 hours, but this technique has always worked for me.

Hope that helps.

All you ever need

If there are bugs in your living area fill your living area with deadly chemicals.

But if you want to go without chemicals and they are in fact fruit flies
try these.
