Hey,
A long time ago me and my best friend used to play this RPG and we cannot for the life of us remember the name of it.
My memory of the details is a bit hazy but here we go. You made a group of heroes at the beginning of the game I think it was up to 6. They could be a few different races and several different classes. The graphics were terrible, and you moved around what was basically an open world with a birdseye view, doing quests and gathering equipment and the like. There was a single town as I recall where you would go and sell and buy and heal and stuff.
This is all pretty generic stuff, but I think the thing that made it different was the battle interface. When your group got into a battle, they were arranged an a grid with the enemy units arranged on the opposite side of the field and you had to use keys to move, cast spells and that sort of thing.
This is a poor description but it's the best I can do hoping this triggers some memory with someone.
