So when Black and White 2 hit you'll be able to get a Salamence with both dragon dance, outrage and moxie. This got me thinking about building up a new team for multiplayer, mostly with friends by the way so I'm not interested in tiers or anything.
I've been pondering the moveset for it for a little while now and it looks something like this:
Outrage
Dragon Dance
XXXXXX
XXXXXX
I considered; Earthquake, Stone Edge/Rock Slide, Fire Fang/Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Aqua Tail, Brick Break, Shadow Claw, Iron Tail, Crunch, Shadow Claw and Fly/Aerial Ace.
Obviously with infinite TM usage in Gen 5 this is pretty easy to swap around as needed but I'd love to cover potential threats from Ice types and potential annoyances from Steel types against Salamence, though both are likely to be covered elsewhere in my team it would be pleasant if Salamence could just mop the floor with them anyway, whilst the coverage of types from Aqua Tail, Fly/Aerial Ace, Crunch or Shadow Claw would also be very useful.
So I was thinking that the best moves are likely Brick Break, Rock Slide, Earthquake, or one of the Fire-type moves, which is something that made me pause for thought.
Is it best to use a higher base power Fire Blast feeding off inferior (and un DDanced and Moxied) Sp.Atk, or the weaker Fire Fang?
Would it be a waste of time to put the EV's into Sp. Atk to balance out?
Or should I just max out his speed and attack with whatever's left thrown into HP?
No idea about IV's btw this thing is hypothetical until October.
As for nature, if entirely physical I'd prefer Adamant, otherwise anything Neutral.
Held item once again not sure, any gem or other type boost thats advantageous is a candidate, or potentially focus sash/band just in case, life orb for the attack benefit, leftovers for a bit of (likely redundant) healing though shell bell is potentially more useful, a confusion curative, scope lens or wide lens, or bight powder.
Not sure about the rest of the team yet though I'm considering leading off with a combination of Shuckle and Ferrothorn with a focus from whittling HP through various abuses and walling the opponent to wear them down prior to heavy hitters and glass cannons.
[EDIT] Though I will welcome suggestions for other pokemon to put in my team and coverage (I'm not hugely experienced competitively), some focus on the Salamence is prefered for now.
