so I just recently had my mouse break due to reasons and I have to get a new one. I've been thinking of getting the recently released Logitech G502 Proteus Core or the Razer Ouroboros. But i've read reviews about eh G502 and most people say it's a overpriced piece of crap or that it has too many buttons (I've seen much worse). And i'm hesitant to get anything Razor cause stigma.

So my question to you guys is what gaming mice to you recommend me to get?

Razor Ouroboros : http://www.razerzone.com/ca-en/gaming-mice/razer-ouroboros

G502: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g502-proteus-core-tunable-gaming-mouse

EDIT:
So i know have narrowed down my search to the G502, Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance II, and Razer DeathAdder.

though i'm leaning more towards the g502

I currently use a cooler master inferno.

I rather enjoy it. It has good ergonomics, 11 buttons (9 of which are programmable) and you can change sensitivity on the fly, which is great for shooters. You can also customize 4 different profiles that the mouse remembers, and switch between them on the fly, even if you're using the mouse on a different computer, meaning you can program 4 different button layouts. It's also $40, which isn't too bad for a gaming mouse (you'll pay double that for a razor with similar features).

On the downside, 2 of the buttons are in slightly uncomfortable spots which can cause you to click them accidentally. It hasn't been a problem for me for years now, but when I first got the mouse I'd push the 2 buttons next to left and right click all the time (easy solution to this problem was to program those buttons to do the same thing that left and right click do). You also can't customize things like weight on it, which you can with a lot of higher end gaming mice. It hasn't been a problem for me because I think it's weighted perfectly for what I want, but your mileage may vary.

I use the logitech G600

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G600-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B0086UK7IQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398993458&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g600

and it is fucking amazing. It is labeled as an MMO mouse, but I spend just as much time playing MMO's and shooters, for which is does fine. While gaming, my left hand never leaves WASD with this mouse, when playing a shooter, you can just thumb select through different weapons, which is extremely useful. Also, the shit load of buttons at your capacity makes any MMO keybinds a breeze. I have a rather large hand, so the mouse fits my hybrid claw/palm style of holding mice perfectly.

I didn't have any troubles getting accustomed to the ring finger button. The drivers are pretty good for the mouse as well. Every button can be customized to do whatever you wish (launch programs, use macos, shortcut keys, etc)

I bought it for $40 and couldn't be happier. Never again can I game on a non-gaming mouse.

Question: How resilient is it?

By which I mean, I've been using a G300 for a few years now and the index finger button has been randomly double-clicking for the past few months, no matter how lightly or roughly I click it, even occasionally while holding the button down. It's quite frustrating and inconvenient, but $60+ is a pretty high price to pay just for another mouse in my opinion.

Er, I don't really have anything to add to this thread though, unfortunately. Like I said, I've been using the same Logitech mouse for the past three or four years and it's about time I need to replace it myself.

I use a Corsair Vengeance M65 [http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Performance-Gunmetal-CH-9000022-NA/dp/B00ARD5410/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1399004658&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+m65]. Cost was around $60 when I bought it, and it's held up a year of very heavy usage.

Traditional 5-button layout with a "sniper" button which decreases the DPI when depressed when you're playing a game like Arma where marksmanship is key. Has adjustable DPI and an LED display just behind the mouse wheel for on-the-fly changes. Also has programmable software.

Logitech makes some pretty quality stuff...they're one of my go-tos for computer accessories. While I haven't had experience with the G502 in particular (G700s here - would recommend), everything else I've bought from them has performed as well as or better than expected. I can also say that their warranty policies are pretty great...luckily I've only had to contact them twice, though once was through fault of my own, but they'll send you an immediate replacement via post which put them on a pretty high level for me after having a few fairly shitty warranty experiences in the past. I might not recommend that mouse in particular but that's mostly just me hating wires.

Razer on the other hand...I think it's pretty much common knowledge that most (all?) of their stuff is overpriced, and I've heard mixed things about their quality, though that's probably more a case of the vocal minority...I hear a lot of shit about Logitech stuff too, but unlike Razer their products are also often considered as good value for money.

My first G600 had the 2 thumb button stop workingish after about 6 months, so I contacted logitech and they sent me a new one immediately without having to pull teeth. The one I have now hasn't had any issues at all, I've been using for perhaps 5-8 months. I forgot when I got the replacement.

I say it stopped workingish because they didn't want me to send in the defective mouse, so I gave it to my friend and he says the 2 button always works for him. It was an intermittent problem. He doesn't really use it for gaming or anything so that could be why it doesn't give him any issues or something. I dunno.

I don't actually use macros ever, unless I'm playing Warframe (I made a macro to hold shift then press Control, because I got tired of doing that for hours). They just make everything more convenient for every game I've played. It has the same precision and whatnot as any other gaming mouse that I've used.

However, if you don't think you'd like it I won't try to persuade you.
