Get the orange box. easily keep you entertained for a weekend. Maybe get a zelda game you haven't played.
Best recommendation? go find Oddworld: Abe's oddessy. great little puzzle/platformer with hooouurs of gameplay and if your a 100%er then its perfect. Plus has sequels that for a great series in general.

FInally, although the likelihood of getting it for 20 bucks is slim, look for Bulletstorm. dear god that is just a great freakin game.

Final Fantasy XIII has dropped below $20 at Amazon if you haven't played it. Ignore the haters, it rocks and its the first FF in a while without too many tedious sidequests

Fallout 3 on Steam is only 20 dollars. It doesn't come with any expansions, but you'll still get a lot of gameplay for 20 dollars...

Warzone 2100, it's a free and awesome RTS. One of the few games that nails weapon sound effects. Hyper Velocity Cannon is freaky when you first hear one of those on the battlefield.

I recommend Spelunky both the (free) PC version and the (not free) XBLA version are fun as, all in all, it's a nice time waster.

You can try League of Legends, I find it pretty fun and its free. Its a spin off of DoTA, which you might of played if you played Warcraft 3.

I don't recommend Defense Grid. I much prefer 'Cursed Treasure: Don't Touch My Gems'. It's free, even.

Also, you can get 'Iji' or 'Cave Story', which are also free and also very good.
