Hi there. I just recently got Metal Gear Solid 1 for the PC, and I was wondering... How the hell do I shoot and run?

I'm in the Comms tower part, and I really need to shoot and run to get up it, help?

Thanks in advanced,

~Entreri

After you press down fire you need to press and hold the crouch button to be able to move whilst aiming (SOCOM/Nikita) or firing (Famas).

On the PS1 that was Square and X together but on the PC I don't know.

After you release fire you can keep the crouch button held down and you won't crouch, that way you won't have to stop next time you need to fire.

If I remember right you can't run and shoot. You need to stop and shoot like in Resident Evil. And for accurate shots you need to go first person.

MGS1 was created in an earlier time, a more simple age, an age where suggesting you shoot and run would get you laughed out of the local pub.

In other words, you can't. If you're at the part I think you are (The bit where its stuck on alert and a tonne of guards chase you, right?) then its best to keep moving and stop every now and then to blast away with the FAMAS. Alternately, if you're feeling skill/badass enough, just toss a few grenades behind when you hear Genome soldiers getting close.

You can move and shoot at the same time, see above.

EDIT# I 've tested it and that is how you do it, to all the people saying you can't, If you don't know the answer don't make assumptions!
This works! Thanks. Close thread?

Really? I'll have to go try it. I must have finished the game 5 or 6 times and
I've never knew noticed that.

It's all in the manual!*
To be fair most people spam Stun G's to get through that bit of the game, I bandanna & Famas.

*Yes, I am that sad that I red the manuals of game before I play them...

You remember wrong. On the Playstation version (not sure about PC) you couldn't shoot in first person, only look (excluding the sniper obviously).

Or throw a soldier into the mob of soldiers behind you.

You are correct, fine sir, its on page 3.4 in the "Advanced Techniques" section. To be honest I had never know that. Armed with this knowledge I might have to replay the game now.
