I recently uncovered an old copy of KotOR for PC while cleaning the basement, today I went to install it on my computer and when I go to play it an error message comes up saying "Conflict with Disc Emulator Software Detected." Does anyone know how to fix this?

This usually means that something is conflicting with another program. This is a pretty frequent and annoying problem with SecuROM and it shows exactly why everyone hates it. You can find a solution just typing that error message into google. It's worth a try.

Googling it is a good start, yes, but SecuROM can't be the problem because the game is several years old, made in 2003, while the earliest recording of SecuROM in use was in 2008, to the best of my knowledge.
It is a secuROM problem, it gives me a link to the secuROM website which provides no useful information whatever.

Yeah that happened to me also. I don't really understand what the problem was, but one day when I tried playing it, it just worked. I don't really know what I did but I will screw around with it and try to find out. I think I ended up burning the discs onto my computer in ISO format.

Uninstall Deamon Tools, and any other disc emulation software. Then it should work.
QFT.

I had the same problem with KOTOR, uninstalling daemon did the trick.

I thought Daemon tools was an emulator, and that link670 wasn't using them.
Technically speaking, it is. It emulates ODD so that you can have multiple "discs" in "drives" at once. All you have to do is mount a completely legal .iso that you downloaded from your favorite legal .iso emporium and it will run it as if it had an extra ODD with a disc in it. Some SECURom will see the background program as an attempt to make a copy of the CD and use it as such.

You're lucky, mine failed installing secuRom. Goddamn anti-pirate bastards...

Fuck that. Instead, make a .iso of the game disc and run it using the Daemon Tools/Alcohol SecuROM workaround. At least one of them has one, I can't recall which.

Another problem could be having two CD/DVD drives and a CD/DVD burning program.

Basically, torrent the game and never have this problem again because securom will be removed.

I don't see a need to uninstall Daemon Tools when you can simply run YASU instead, which cloaks your DT, so the game doesn't realize it's running off an ISO.
