Help me block certain avatars

I got my adblock plus deactivated on this site. However, I can't seem to be able to block avatars/pictures without it. Some of the avatars in the forum (example) [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/lacktheknack] give me headaches and I hate reading anything while that distracting stuff is on the screen, essentially devaluing not just those users' posts but also the posts around them.

So help me, what is the best way to block those avatars on Firefox?
I already tried rightclick -> graphic info; but that only lets me block all the pictures from cdn.escapistmagazine.com, not just the few gifs I want to block manually.

If I can't find another way, I'll have to reactivate adblock again on the Escapist but the staff really deserve even the tiny income from ads. So give me another way to block those animated avatars :(

You could always just put those people on the ignore list. That's what I've been doing at least.

You can always click the infamous Red Button, but I would advice against that.

- Go to your profile.
- Click on "Forum and Notification Options"
- There you can select the option to disable forum avatars.

You could also try this [http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Animated-Images-in-a-Browser]
It's a bit involved, but it turns off animations in images while still showing the images themselves (or that's what it claims to do anyway, I haven't tested it myself.

Thanks for the answers! I think I'll just ignore people with such avatars in the future.
The other 2 suggestions sadly either nuke all avatars or even all .gifs :(

If there is another way, feel free to suggest it :)

My suggestion would nuke all animated gifs, but that's what you want isn't it?
Otherwise you'd have to specify for each and every animation whether or not you'd want to see it again in the future. I'm pretty sure that's also an option somehow, but it seems like a lot of work...

No, most animations are fine, only a few ones give me headaches. I probably should have defined my question more clearly :)

The only solution in that case seems to be to use an ad-blocker (or something similar) to specifically block those images. Please do remember to whitelist the Escapist as a whole though :)

i know how you feel there are some peoples avatars that are just rediculous and makes me think the owner is mentally challenged like for example this one [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view]
i suggest either using ad block plus with no filter and selecting the images you don't want to see or try nuke anything [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nuke-anything-enhanced/]

Hmm, I don't know if you can disable most filters on particular webpage but leave others, however, you can always just use a second adblocker - do not subscribe to any lists with it and only use it to block the avatars you need. Firefox, Chrome, and Opera all have Adblock and Adblock Plus addons which are pretty much the same thing but can have separate filters.
