I want to play a game and get into it. I have no preference in genres when it comes to good games. I have a lot of games that haven't played yet, or barely touched them. Please help me decide among the following games and perhaps give me a reason why to pick the game that you propose.
I know this kind of threads are a little pointless but nevertheless I enjoy the discussion about games and all those different approaches.

Here are the games:

Assassin's Creed Revelations. I loved the first Assassin's Creed game, and Altair as central hero, and although it had some noticeable flaws, it's by far my most favourite game of the franchise. I'm not a big fan of Ezio, but I suppose the "brand name" of Assassin's Creed is a guarantee of at least a decent gaming experience.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron: I have heard a lot of positive comments about it. To be honest, I usually don't play "alternative" games. But is it perhaps a good moment to start playing them?

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD: Pretty much the same hesitation as with El Shaddai. I don't feel very comfortable with artistic games. I loved Flower, I was even moved with the ending, but if it was longer than two hours, I'm not sure if I could play for too long in this motif.

Kingdoms of Amalur. I played it only for an hour. I think got the idea, hack n' slash, gain experience, loot, and proceed with the next area of the map. It all felt too "mechanic". Also I was kind of put off with the cartoony aesthetic and put it aside. Is it really so good, that I should give it another chance?

Alan Wake: I love horror games! My problem with Alan Wake is that I played it for a while and I thought that the main protagonist was dislikable. I don't like the idea of playing an adventure game with a protagonist that gets on my nerves.

Vanquish: I'm not into robots and fast paced action games, but I found it dirt cheap and it has so positive reviews so I picked it up right away. I'm still waiting to be in the mood to play it...

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: I'm a little spoiled from the combat system of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls so don't know if this game can give me the same thrills. I have tested previous Bethesda games and I'm not a big fan of how the third person view works there. I would want a more "organic" feel in the movement of the character. Still it's a massive game and a great title that I should play some time. I just don't know if it's now the good time..

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD if you haven't played them before.

Other than that I say Vanquish or El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron.

Skyrim if you have a PC, there are a lot of great mods on the workshop now (and the nexus). Download better graphics, lighting, ambient npcs/animals/etc and the game feels much better. I haven't tried downloading any quests yet though as I'm doing a new playthrough.

Got bored of Amalur way too quickly, waste of money.

Honestly haven't played the rest, so no opinions there. Ico and Shadow of the Collosus are ones I'd like to try someday, though.

Or just play Civ (IV or V) and you'll waste a week of your life. I'm going to get V when the expansion comes out this summer and there's hopefully a sale.

Assassin's Creed.

Skyrim and Shadow of the Colossus/Ico are better games, but the OP comes right out and says he hates art games and doesn't like Bethesda's combat, so that's kind of a lost cause. He also says he loves Assassin's Creed.

Really kind of a no brainer. Which game should I play? This one, which I love, or these other ones, which I hate? I can't decide!

Don't get El Shaddai! Don't do it!!! No, okay, do it if you're curious, but I thought it was an absolutely horrible game, and I do like alternative games. Nice art style, shitty gameplay. Of those games you mentioned, I'd recommend Ico/Shadow. Ico has aged a little worse, but it's still a brilliant game plus it's short. Everyone should play Shadow of The Collosus though, it's legendary.

Skyrim's good, but it's basically more of the same from Bethesda. If you didn't like Oblivion, you probably won't like Skyrim much better.

Fortunately I have it for the pc (Skyrim) because I have heard a lot of complaints from those that got it for the PS3. I plan to play it on my laptop so I don't know if can handles too realistic textures and colours.

I was disppointed with Kingdoms of Amalur, I really hoped it would be the action rpg that I could stick with it for months, like perhaps an "offline World of Warcraft" but the reality is that there is no comparison. Maybe as you said it's a waste of money, I hope it isn't because I bought it on day 1 and traded some good games of my backlog like Dragon Age 2 and Enslaved (and a couple of crappy ones, like Sega Rally :p)

I tried playing CIV 4 & 5. I just can't get too much into them. I always return to CIV III. I'm still playing it from times to times for over than ten years. Civ 3 for president. :)

I never said I hate art games or Bethesda combat. It's just not my type, but I'm not absolute on that, I'm open to new experiences. Also I said that I love Assassin's Creed 1, but not so much the sequels, that's why I hesitate with ACR

We play Skyrim on our laptop too, near max settings. I'm not at home and don't remember the specs, though. It's almost a couple years old now. Or is it only a year? Maybe. I forget.

We finished ME3, I went back and played some of my ME1 playthrough making different choices, then got tired of it. I go through spurts of ME3 multiplayer right now, and we also did a week or so of Civ recentley. Now's it's a modded Skyrim. Mostly because something is wonky on the laptop and Minecraft keeps crashing no matter what settings I mess with, so I'm kinda pissed.

We're moving this weekend though, so we like Skyrim as we can do one dungeon and go back to packing. We don't play for the story - we play for the world.

El Shaddai: There's a demo you can try out. From reading up on it and playing the demo myself the game seems to be rather mediocre - while the visuals are great the platforming seems a bit tedious and the fighting isn't varied enough.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD: Watch a few gameplay videos? They are somewhat of niche titles but can still be enjoyable even if you manage to completely not care about anything beyond the very gameplay.
I don't know how you made the connection with Flower but the games are basically 3D platformers at their cores, their major strength being the way they get you emotionally tied to the characters. They're both definitely worth a look.

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: From what you said it doesn't seem like a good choice. The combat system is awful like in all Bethesda games and the third person movement is just as blocky. Don't buy it if you're specifically looking for the kind of gameplay Souls games offer.

*reads the OP one more time*
Wait, do you already have these games? If yes then why don't you just launch them and see for yourself whether you want to play them or not? It's like a matter of ten minutes or so.

I already have bought it...Although I play a lot, I always manage to miss each generation's "gems", so I thought to take a risk with El Shaddai. I can imagine what you say about the game..

I pretty much know what these games are about, and I have tried them for some minutes. Obviously nothing gained my interest right away, or else I would have already played them. But I know that most of them are good games, and I was curious to see what you haved to say, because I often function with this way: I hear an opinion, it convinces me and find the motivation to play a good game that otherwise I wouldn't bother to start. Also I never pick a game based on the demo. It's just can't work this for me. It helps me avoid some crappy games though.
