Help me get better at making AMV's

If you are currently thinking, hey, I hate darktau because he want's to make an amv and those suck, so I am going to post a derogatory comment on this thread, then please go back to the escapist homepage and find something you find you can post a useful comment on.

Ok, basically I just got into video making with sony vegas 8 and being drugged on anime I decided to make an amv, it went like this:

It took me about 20 mins to make and took no real skill to make.

I am looking for tutorials/tips on how to make a better amv/movie in general. Although I would like to know how to do the cool masking thing that other AMV's do that tracks characters, cool text effects and the picture in picture transitions etc.

Oh and I did try youtubing, but I get a ton of random videos that don't correspond to what I am looking for or require plug-ins.

Leave Amber out of any future AMVs is tip number one. God I hate that girl.

In all seriousness, I would leave out the lyrics flashing on screen. In an AMV I like to focus on the visuals going on with the anime, and so the lyrics popping up are slightly distracting.

I've never used Sony Vegas before, so I can't give any real help on that, sorry.

Aww, she was only at the start, but to be honest, I showed my brother (who doesn't watch anime) and he lol'd at her >.<.

And, with the lyrics, that's why I was asking for some vegas tips, because I have seen amv's that do the text quite well, without it being so distracting (unlike mine ).
