Looking for Browser-based games to help me kill around an hour a day. I have a hard time sticking with this type of thing, but I can't decide if its my own fickle tastes or the games' lacking in longevity. For instance, Echo Bazaar really impressed me, but I couldn't stick with it. So I turn to the Escapist community to suggest some awesome time-killers to help me out between classes.

Here's the requirements:

-Has to work on Mac, which means client downloads are usually out.
-Persistence is nice, but I'd happily take a game that totally forgets who I am over one that requires immense grinding.
-Should be playable for somewhere between 30minutes to 2hours at a time. I almost never have more than that, but that's pretty flexible I think.
- Although this is hard to come by, a polite and lively community is always a plus.

So, anybody know a game that fits the bill? What do you guys do to kill time between meetings or classes, or when you're supposed to be working?

Oh, I have a game that perfectly suits this!
Flash Trek 2: Broken Mirror.
It is an in-browser game, has multiple save slots, quite large, a lot to do...
You should try it :D

Not really online(though, there are online servers available) but Nethack is a great way to waste ten minutes to a few hours. [http://nethack.org/common/index.html]
Hell, if you have a DS and one of those flash cards that work with a DS, there's even Nethack on the DS [http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=NetHack_for_the_Nintendo_DS].

Since I don't want to recommend only Nethack because there are enough great roguelikes, here's a list of roguelikes sorted by theme(fantasy, historical, science fiction etc.) [http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=List_of_roguelikes_by_theme]

EDIT: I want to add that most roguelikes hate the player. You'll get one save that is deleted when you die, nearly everything wants you dead and it could take years to learn the roguelikes that don't have a wiki or help page.

You have a cool username.

For a browser game, I'd recommend Tower Defence, because that's the only one I consider to be any good.

BUT! You need to look out for Plants vs. Zombies. It fits your criteria PERFECTLY. However, I'm not sure if there is a Mac version available at this time.

Hulu is awesome for watching TV shows. As for games, you should take a look at Kongregate or Newgrounds. They always have great games.
