Okay, so long story short, I'm about to do a load of ironing before I go to bed and I wanted to watch a film on my laptop while I do it. Normally this would mean picking a DVD but since about 80% of my DVDs were stolen when my house was broken into after Christmas, and I haven't got round to replacing them all yet, I plan on watching something online. Trouble is, I can't choose anything.

I'm into all sorts of films, though I don't particularly want to watch a horror while I'm on my own in my basement bedroom doing ironing and my housemates are all asleep. I get creeped out easily. So basically, I want help in picking something to watch.

Don't worry too much about what it is, just throw ideas out there at me and I'll pick something eventually. Oh, and while we're at it, and to add discussion value, what are your favourite films, and why?

EDIT: Just to help you guys out with suggestions, right now I'm up for watching something dramatic, but not overly dramatic. A little bit of comedy would be fine too...

Gone in 60 Seconds, 2000 version. This is one of my favourite films, one of a very select few that I'll watch more than once. I think it's brilliantly written and the dialogue has some really good lines.

Real Time

Holy hell, this movie is amazing... it made me uncontrollably bawl at the end. Definitly up there in my top... number of movies.

Pan's Labyrinth. Problem is, it's all in subtitles. However, not a problem if you speak Spanish.
But either way, I recommend it. It's my favorite movie.

Everything is Illuminated.

Comedy in the beginning, turns into touching drama at the end. Seems like what you want.
Please just do it. One of my favorite films ever.

As for discussion, I haven't favorite films in certain genres. I cant say why I love them, but I do know visual style has a lot to do with it

District 9, I don't know exactly how to categorize it, but it's just such a great movie.

Social allegory in sci-fi?

My vote goes to Iron man. You and he will both be Iron men (for completely different reasons) but it should at least psyche you up to iron the shit out of that laundry.

Hmm... Inglourious Basterds, if you can spare the time to glance up at the screen every few sedconds at the start to get the gist of what's happening it'll pay dividends. A fanatastic film, thoroughly entertaining. Alternatively, Fight Club is a movie you can listen to on the peripherary then fall into watching. It draws you in.

Well you've knocked out a good chunck of my ideas with the no horror option..however i will recommend Star Wars or Spaceballs a parody of the former movie mentioned there.

Hot Fuzz seems like a good fit. Cop movie with comedic drama? The last half hour could help you with a workout stretch.
