Hi people, you've probably seen or even read or even posted on my threads, but I have a little bro, and he loves video games like all of us here, but he also like MMORPGs and I don't want him to be a noob and get cyber bullied, but I've been away from the MMORPGs lately so if you can, please put some well known and APPROPRIATE abbriev.s, because, 'sniff', i asked him what rpg he likes, and he said "what does that mean?". Anyway help me if you can, and if you can't stop reading my thread!

I can only think of five RPG-related acronyms off the top of my head.

WTS = Want to Sell.
WTB = Want to Buy.
DPS = Damage per Second
PM = Private Message.
NFS = Not for sale.

I managed to get most of my knowledge with "projects" that is a large task with one aim like shopping around for a new ISP or building or upgrading a PC. The challenge is researching how the components fit together and the reward at the end is super fast and cheap broadband or a killer gaming rig that can play the top games at blistering rates. Challenge-reward.

I think the biggest problem for new PC gamers is there is so much jargon and complexity compared to a console, that it will be hard for them to get involved but just let him get involved and experience it and he will learn in time. It wouldn't be too bad to play online with him in co-op or whatever works with mmorpgs I am mostly an online-shooter player.

The easiest step to take is get him to choose a new GPU, it is the easiest component to change in a PC though requires a fair amount of knowledge to change.

Hope your bro isn't scared away by all the griefers out there. Good luck.

Sorry, can you please explain me what do you want to know? Johnn Johnston told us some acronyms, and Treblaine was talking about buying a new computer. Who answers my question: "What the hell?" gets a cookie. And no, "That the hell," is not a correct answer.

oh, blimey. Big topic.

Lol, rofl, lmao, roflmao, rolfcopter, kek = I say, how droll.
brb, gtg, bbs, bbl = Do it on your own.
LFG, LFM = Do it in a group.
DOT = damage over time
ROF/A = Rate of fire/attack
DD = Direct damage.

The list just goes on. Of course, abbreviations are one thing, sometimes there's just jargon, abbreviated or not, to get through, and it tends to be based on game.

"lol! I picked up an AM S BPC on contracts for 10k ISK, figure I could use it for my EW frig, to back up the AFs and HACs, since I need a load. The ROF on these T2 blasters in ridiculous!"

Would translate into - "Laugh out loud! I got a Small Antimatter blueprint copy on contracts for 10,000 interstellar kredits, figure I could use it for my electronic warfare frigate, to back up the assault frigates and heavy assault cruisers, since I need a load. The rate of fire on these Technology level 2 blasters in ridiculous!"

Which still won't make sense unless you've played EvE for a good while. Frankly you're best off just leaping in and admitting you're a noob.
