Im not the greatest computer guy around, so i was hoping that i could find someone on the escapist knows more than me. The problem i have is with itunes. My old laptop died a couple months ago, so i had to get a new one and re-download itunes, but now my songs are gone. I was originally going to use a program i got from a friend to copy the songs from my ipod onto itunes, but of course i lost my ipod... so is there some other way to get my songs back?
ps. I'd ask this on an apple forum, but some songs that i have weren't offered in the itunes store.

This is why I don't buy songs directly from itunes. I can keep backup files of them. You should have done that for the ones that were files on your computer, and as for the stuff you bought from itunes, I'm not too familiar, but surely if you sign into your account you can redownload your stuff?

So, the computer you had your songs on died, and now you lost the iPod, also containing the songs.

Unless you can get the harddrive from the old computer to run and connect it to your new computer, you're out of luck.

The songs that are not from iTunes are gone, no chance there but the songs you purchased from Apple can be re-downloaded if you give them a call.

Apple's policy (at least, was when I worked there two years ago) was that a person can get a one time re-grant in which anything still available on their site that is lost can be re-downloaded. You may not get everything back but it's worth the shot. If you do not have an ipod touch or iphone, you'll have to do this from their website.
