HELP NEEDED! (Bio-shock)

hi all!
Zeke here,
Ive recently bought Bio-shock for the 360. Im at Posiodon plaza and I fight my first "bouncer" elite big daddy and i cant seem to kill one without wasting ALL of my health and ALL of my grenades/MG ammo. The only solution i can find is to kill one, then hypnotise one when i fight another and have them beef it out. The "Rosie" big daddies are cake but these drill bastards just piss in my cornflakes.
i would deeply appreciate a little help here.

i have frost, incinerate, target, rage, shock, and hypnotize big daddy.
for tonics i have iron shell and frost *they hit me they freeze* and ice wrench.

Do you have any armor piercing rounds? Those work well against Big Daddies.

if you havnt got wrench jockey take pictures of bouncers till you get it, then go Pwn those dudes

To start the fight off find a piece of scenery and coat it in as many proximity mines as you can. They won't set each other off. Whip it at the Big Daddy with telekinesis and they will all blow at the same time, taking off a nice chunk of health. For added effects, attach them to something that also explodes, like one of the gas canisters.

From experience, the best weapons to use are the shotgun with explosive or electric ammo, or the crossbow with exploding bolts.

If you have the crossbow, use the secondary ammo (the one that releases an electric cable trap) and set a few in his path (5, at the most), then get him to attack.

Also, if you die, you just come back, so don't sweat it.

the crossbow's trip bolts are a great way to kill off big daddys.
three or four will down one i think.
But alas you may not have it yet, so i would suggest shocking em and blasting them. AP rounds work great too.

in this case, the wrench is the best weapon. no one knows it, but honestly, the wrench works the best on the big daddy bouncers. sort of an easter egg. might take like three times, but it should work. get him in the back.

zap him, then gun him down with AP rounds and grenades. electrogel works pretty well too. you probably want the static shock tonic, so that if he hits you, you instantly stun him with an electric shock, so you have time to back up.

In Poseidon Plaza? If it's the one down the stairs near Cohen's Masterpiece, set a series of proximity mines up the stairs and landing (make sure to space them so they don't set each other off and get wasted) and get up there, unloading on it with armor-piercing ammo from the machine gun. It'll work its way up, so use as much ammo as you can (and use the hornet swarm plasmid if you can afford it, that'll begin to wear it down) and when it gets up be ready to dodge, then unload with the electric buck or exploding buck. If it gets too close, switch ASAP to the winter/electric plasmids and stall it while you get your distance, and then fire as soon as it stops moving.

Make sure to get the photos beforehand for the upgrades to damage.

You could just keep hitting him with the wrench. The vita-chambers effectively make you immortal.

Hit him from a distance with a crossbow round if you have it. If not, keep a good stock of shocky shotgun rounds and hit him when he gets close.

Find some cover and rotate around it as the fight progresses.

I recommend this too.
Try and find some nice setups to stage your attack (i.e., there's gas canisters and oil pools or water around and use Incinerate and Shock liberally)

Edit:

A funny trick you can use is, if you don't have Rage on you, you can use the Target Dummy plasmid to place one near a passing Big Daddy so splicers will inadvertently attack him and soften him up for you.
Especially handy if there's Leadhead Splicers around.

This guy's got the right idea, but I'm going to add to it.

First, equip the following ammo types even though you may not need to use all of them:
- electric gel
- electric shotgun shells
- frag mines
- incindiary bolts
- armor piercing rounds (pistol and machine gun)

Step B, use electric gel. On easy, you shouldn't even need a full tank of it to take a big daddy out. On harder levels, use gel (immobilizes), then frag or bolt, then shotgun (immobilizes), then another frag or bolt, then back to gel. Rotate like that, and you can finish them off on hard pretty easily without taking damage. The armor piercing rounds are equipped in case I screw up bad, but I rarely need them.

Plasmids are rather useless, unless you're manipulating the environment through Security Bullseye, Enrage, Hypnotize Big Daddy, or other methods of third party damage.

Still, these are all valid methods. However the easiest I find is to find two exploding barrels, coat them with three proximity mines each, and use telekinesis to hurl it at the Big Daddy. That should severely weaken him if not outright kill him.

Most efficient way I've found is firing one Incendiary bolt into his face, then repeatedly pulling it out and shooting it back in with Telekinesis til either the bolt breaks or his face does. If the bolt breaks, just fire another. Works with regular bolts as well, but Incendiary do more damage, especially when you have the human inferno tonic.

Easiest way has already been stated; Trap bolts, Electric buck, or Electric Gel.

Exploit one of the games few flaws. Hit the Big Daddy as much as you can with the wrench, die, respawn, rinse and repeat until Big Daddy falls and you can get that sweet ADAM.

Or, if you don't want to be cheap, get the crossbow and use those trap arrows that have the electric trip wire. Set those up down a hallway, shoot the Big Daddy. If you set up enough trip wires he'll do his rush attack and fall dead at your feet. I usually used about 7+ arrows. Even if he doesn't die he'll be so low on health you can finish him easily.

Use everything that shocks. While he is stunned, run and snipe with the bow. don't forget to leave some target dummies out, so he can't find you so fast. If he does find you, stun again and finish with the shotgun. If that doesn't work then you are either dead or running like hell. Who would want to kill the harmless Mr. Bubbles anyway?
