I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place or not and some may call this downright lazy, but I've been looking for the answer of the internet and each time it's the same thing

Basically, can anyone tell me basically how a transformer works, this is for a Physics GCSE question.

I actually knew that it wasn't, but I'm not a physics major.
