Well I was looking into buying nividia graphix cards, I was hoping to get a 8800 for 50$ USD (which I can deffinattally get) but is there another grafics card I can get for at or under 100$ USD? And after you tell me the best at that range, tell me the best for 200? My current specs are 6 gigs ram windows 64 bit and 600 gigs memory and no gamming card.

Also is 8800 better than 8600? or not? I don't get the numbering systems

Im looking to at least beable to run Crysis on all medium and all other games that aren't ineffiecnt, like crysis, on the highest settings, so far my nividia 8600 had worked well, untill, that is, I came accross Dawn of war 2 which is being a *****.

Look at the dedicated graphics memory.

Anything from 512mb upwards should do fine for playing most games. =]

I only have a 256mb and all of my games play perfectly.

I'm running off of two 8800s, and they are working quite well and still run with the big dogs, so to speak.

The first number tells you which series it is. (different series have different/newer technologies)

The second number tells you how powerful the card is (compared to the series).

E.g. a 7900 is very powerful for a 7x card, whereas a 8200 is a weak card for a 8x card.

So, theoretically, a x-900 could be more powerful than a x+1-200. Say, a 7900 might be more powerful than a 8200. But it's just an example. But it's fair to assume that the newer versions always prevail, as they have never technology, and usually have more raw power than the previous series.

Conclusion; 8800 is more powerful than a 8600.

Some graphics card manufacturers have some way to enable it. With nVidia, they have something called "SLI", which is basically a cable, from one card to the other. But it has to be fairly new graphic cards, about 8x and above, for the cards to have the ability.
