Hello Escapists,

I'm trying to play some old games on my PC (due to the fact my PC is running slow due to viruses, until I can wipe it all again and play new games) but anyway...

Im trying to play the following...
- System Shock 2
- Call of Cthulhu
- Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines

Is there anyway to make these games compatible and run without crashes?

Specs
- Windows XP SP3
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
- Core Processor 5600+
- 2.89 GHz, 2GB of RAM

Try using the 'Compatibility Mode' option on the computer.
The link should explain more:

Hope this helps.
Oh, and have fun with SS2. Brilliant game.

I have not had any problems with Bloodlines and I too run XP SP3. But compatibility mode is what you need.

Took me a while to get SS2 running on XP. You will need to disable one of your cores for it to run properly.

There are other things but I can't remember how I finally got it working.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit here, not a single issue on getting Bloodlines to run. Call of Cthulhu works with compatibility modes. Don't have System Shock 2 around to try to get it running.

Edit: this may be a bit redundant, but download the fan-made patches for Bloodlines from planetvampire. They make the game run far smoother and with less of it's original crashes, also some of the content/resources that didn't make it into the original version of the game but were originally programmed in have been restored to give you more of a full game experience.

I'm not sure if those games are old enough, but for some games from the 90's you need to set up a DOSBox. At least, I had to to play the original Elder Scrolls games.
