So my problem is this:
Me and a mate want to go to Exeter to see a band "The King Blues" however, we have no idea as to what times to book train. Has anyone gone to one of their gigs who can tell us how long the whole gig went on for?
Much appreciated :)

Just get a return ticket if your coming back the same day, if not, stay overnight in the hotel or something and get a return for the next day. It's far easier then having to try to work it all out before hand, although it costs a bit more on the day, it's not a huge amount more

Or just wait for them to come closer if Exeter is too far for you, they're constantly touring all over

Most gigs though, about an hour and a half - two hours give or take

Exeter, as in Devon Exeter I assume? At the Phoenix or Lemon Grove?

First Great Western run the trains down in the south west. I suggest checking their website or national rail enquires.

I would allocate at least three hours for a gig; support acts, getting to-and-from the station.

FGW run late sleeper trains from Penzance-London, which pass through Exeter, if I remember correctly.

P.S King Blues are great live. Saw them support Enter Shikari in Bath.

YES!! Lemon Grove! And the only problem with most peoples advise at the minute is the fact that the day after me and my mate have school so we need to be back early in the morning which kinda sucks. I mean on the ticket it doesn't have support so if it's just them for about hour and a half to two hours then that should be ok but I still kinda need to know how long they would be playing for cuz if it's too late, me and my mate are royaly FUCKED!

That is a week day. Where are you travelling from? First Great Western tickets are on sale up to about September. The cheaper tickets go on sale about 12 weeks in advance. For example, they have a train that leaves Exeter at 0100hrs and that heads back to London Paddington for around 0500.

Ah, good old Plymouth! Not too much of an issue. The last train from Exeter back to Plymouth is 23.21. Tickets are dirt cheap. Get a cheap day return. Might have to cut some of the gig short if it is still going on though.

The timetable for November won't show as you can't book that far. However, that will be the time, as the timetables for the train companies were all confirmed on 22ND of May. Off-peak day returns are £7.75 if you are under 16. They are the same price on the day. That means you can catch any train after 0930 in the morning and train you want on the way back.

Lemon Grove is near the university. About 20 minute walk from Exeter St Davids train station.

It's no problem, glad to help. ^_^

It would be very odd if they did to be honest. I just checked the FGW timetables and the latest they go in October is 2308 and arrive in Plymouth 0011. As I say, it would be very odd if they reduced the service to 2230. I advise checking at the end of month, which by then, November should be ready for booking hopefully.

No problem. Glad to help really. Can be a bit daunting going to a place for a gig. XD

Feel like a massive idiot for continually asking for advise but just one more thing...is that going to be a sleeper to do you think? I mean it's not too much of a bad thing but it would be preferable if it is not

No it won't be. The Sleeper comes down from London and doesn't leave there until 2245. It should be just a local train. Couple of carriages long. Even if it was a sleeper, you can still get on and. Wouldn't be any different in price. It would still have normal carriages. But yeah, it will be a normal train. ^_^

So my problem is this:
Me and a mate want to go to Exeter to see a band "The King Blues" however, we have no idea as to what times to book train. Has anyone gone to one of their gigs who can tell us how long the whole gig went on for?
Much appreciated :)
I went to a King Blues gig (back when they were good) about 18 months ago and, including the support bands, the gig was between 2-3 hours long, same as most other gigs I've been to. Get there for 6, plenty of time, and aim to leave between 11-12
They were absolutely brilliant so, if they play a lot of older stuff, you're in for a real treat! But I spoke to Itch at the merch stand afterwards and he was a bit of a twat

Side note: did you really like Punk And Poetry? I thought the singles were all shallow, basic and pretty miserable, lyrically and instrumentally. Save The World was a phenomenal album and then phweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww.... PFWOOOOSH!! (That was a plane falling and crashing)

I saw them earlier this year and with 2 supports and getting out at the end (which was mental because Sonic Boom Six were signing at there merch booth right next to the doors) it was all in all about 3 hours so allow for standing about outside before and any delays I'd call it 3.5 hours.

I completely agree with you there, save the world was an AMAZING album but I see what you're saying about punk and poetry it was all just a bit.....meh. Nothing really stood out and as you said, it was all just a bit crap!
