HELP, re: Steam

I bought a copy of napoleon total war off amazon the other day, and after it arrived i tried to install it. as with all recent total war games you need to install steam, then enter a product code which is verified before it installs.

ERRRKKK - "duplicate product key", basically saying it had already been used and i therefore couldn't use it.

what do i do? can i buy a new one? do i need to get amazon to take it back and get my money back? have i been ripped off?

please help.

You got ripped off. Once a game fuses with a Steam account, it's there forever. Try contacting Steam Customer Support, they might take pity on you and give you a new key. Emphasis on "might".

Did you get in contact with amazon to tell them you have a defunc key? I've never bought a game from amazon, but I'm pretty sure they'll be nice about it.
