HELP! troubles with steam

im having trouble connecting to steam. i recently bought modern warfare 2 (through steam) and installed the steam client.

first i had trouble updating, as the updater usually went up to 30% and then reset.

after that each time i run steam it says first "updating steam" stays at 0% and then "unable to connect to steam network"

ive reinstalled and deleted the clientregistry file over and over.

google wont help seeing as how 5 million other people have the same issues and aren't getting any answers.

so please, HELP!

Maybe steam is been fire-walled?. Have you tried adding it into your exceptions list for the firewall?.

steam has one of the best customer support programs in the world, honestly they are all like nerdy half gods.

i never ran in to this problem, but if you dont have patience for the customer support, try the forums, it's an helpful community.

I'm sorry i can only state the obvious, but thats the best i can do.

Open command prompt

type:

netsh firewall reset
netsh winsock reset

then reboot

edit: i tried the commands and rebooted, but then i couldn't connect to the internet, so i restarted the comp, still doesn't work
