i know it sucks.

but i was making a short little test with a video recorded in FRAPS and the sound recorded in Audacity. it all worked well so i saved it.

it plays in windows media player but when i try to open it again in Windows Live Movie Maker it says "this file cannot be opened with Windows Live Movie Maker"

even though i made the stupid video on that programme, i have tried saving it in different formats such as .wmv and even the one it says it needs to open it .wlmp

any help is appreciated

I havn't used the later versions of WMM so I can't really help. Perhaps try to find a copy of the pre-Vista version...aside from a few stability issues it usually gets the job done. I've never had any problems importing video unless it was something not supported natively like flvs or divx avi.
